I was driving down a 6 lane highway through Auburndale Florida during a storm in my 88 XJ.
Up ahead I saw a bunch of cars swerving to avoid something. It turned out to be a small tornado crossing the road.
I was young and crazy at the time, so I said to myself "What the hell, I'm in a jeep...
18k. 2+ years. Whenever I see another one on the road, I know I would be kicking myself if I hadn't bought one. I'm happy to see it in the parking lot when I return in my work van, and I'm still always a little exited to drive it to work in the mornings. It is my giant mechanical pet.
So, no...
I was getting 17.6 until the gas prices went up and school let out. There is a LOT less traffic, so I'm not behind someone doing 30 in a 45 (or stopping randomly for no reason), and now I'm getting 19.0.
It's amazing how much other drivers have an effect on your fuel usage.
I get better mileage when I drive with a lead foot, and worse with the tops off. I noticed no difference windows up or down, but the rare occasion I have the windows up the A/C is on, so that may make it a wash.
My Jeep shifts weird, but only occasionally. I mentioned it twice at the dealer and was given the reply: "Wait until it breaks, then bring it in. These transmissions shift when THEY want, not when you think they should."
I have 15k on it now, still shifts the same, maybe a little better, or...
The questions to ask are:
Why was someone recording video at that moment? Was this staged?
Was this a wrecked vehicle someone was doing a stunt with?
I think I would have changed lanes and got out of the way if I saw this coming... who knows what would fly off and hit me....
I think that saying should go more like: "I found it in the last place I COULD look..."
Meaning that you have exhausted all the options but one, and that is where you found it.
This is "FiFi" my 88 cherokee. I bought it around 25 years ago, and did a restoration on it. It was my daily driver for years, and three jeeps later, I still have it...and I'm doing another resto on it right now....
I once drove it through a small tornado (THAT was fun...) and it was our...
I bought this in 1987, at age 21. and it was a wreck. I finished a five year restoration about eight years ago.
This was the first car I bought with my own money...$900.
It's happened to me about 6 times. Mostly when the wife closes it. I've watched her, and I don't see any reason why it doesn't latch.
I also saw a gladiator a couple days ago, back full of groceries, and their gate was down too. They were going up a ramp to the highway, so I couldn't catch...
