  1. Random plug looking peice ?

That's the part that keeps the crankshaft in the engine. oops....
  2. A simple tool to help with tire removal and installation.

That doesn't look like a very ergonomic handle....
  3. Tell us your favorite memory in a Jeep.

I was driving down a 6 lane highway through Auburndale Florida during a storm in my 88 XJ. Up ahead I saw a bunch of cars swerving to avoid something. It turned out to be a small tornado crossing the road. I was young and crazy at the time, so I said to myself "What the hell, I'm in a jeep...
  4. Jeep Enthusiasm Waning

18k. 2+ years. Whenever I see another one on the road, I know I would be kicking myself if I hadn't bought one. I'm happy to see it in the parking lot when I return in my work van, and I'm still always a little exited to drive it to work in the mornings. It is my giant mechanical pet. So, no...
  5. Who's got my fuel mileage beat?

I was getting 17.6 until the gas prices went up and school let out. There is a LOT less traffic, so I'm not behind someone doing 30 in a 45 (or stopping randomly for no reason), and now I'm getting 19.0. It's amazing how much other drivers have an effect on your fuel usage.
  6. Odd aerodynamics?

I get better mileage when I drive with a lead foot, and worse with the tops off. I noticed no difference windows up or down, but the rare occasion I have the windows up the A/C is on, so that may make it a wash.
  7. The extent of my wood working skills ?

I put some sticky craft felt on the ends, it makes it slide in easier and not bang around.
  8. Quick Release Tonneau Cover?

Factory Mopar trifold: I just put wing nuts on the bolts that hold it on. It comes off easily now.
  9. Brand new 8 speed at 14,980 miles

My Jeep shifts weird, but only occasionally. I mentioned it twice at the dealer and was given the reply: "Wait until it breaks, then bring it in. These transmissions shift when THEY want, not when you think they should." I have 15k on it now, still shifts the same, maybe a little better, or...
  10. Ok who did this? NSFW language

The questions to ask are: Why was someone recording video at that moment? Was this staged? Was this a wrecked vehicle someone was doing a stunt with? I think I would have changed lanes and got out of the way if I saw this coming... who knows what would fly off and hit me....
  11. When is too much storage a problem?

I think that saying should go more like: "I found it in the last place I COULD look..." Meaning that you have exhausted all the options but one, and that is where you found it.
  12. When is too much storage a problem?

The secret to knowing where your stuff is, is always putting it in the first place you would go look for it!
  13. Your first Jeep photos?

This is "FiFi" my 88 cherokee. I bought it around 25 years ago, and did a restoration on it. It was my daily driver for years, and three jeeps later, I still have it...and I'm doing another resto on it right now.... I once drove it through a small tornado (THAT was fun...) and it was our...
  14. Your “Other Vehicles” and passions

I bought this in 1987, at age 21. and it was a wreck. I finished a five year restoration about eight years ago. This was the first car I bought with my own money...$900.
  15. My tailgate falls open sometimes...

It's happened to me about 6 times. Mostly when the wife closes it. I've watched her, and I don't see any reason why it doesn't latch. I also saw a gladiator a couple days ago, back full of groceries, and their gate was down too. They were going up a ramp to the highway, so I couldn't catch...
  16. Uconnect 7” Ghost Taps

I thought you wrote "ghost trap" and got excited for an ecto-1 version of the Gladiator....
  17. Locking gas cap (non partisan, please) Don’t ban me.

You would be better off putting a post-it note on your drivers window that says: "Sorry, dad! I used up almost ALL your gas! I'll pay you back later!"
