Installed some Hooke Road roof rack cross bars. Amazon $130. Seemingly adequate for paddle boards, kayaks and canoes especially with bed extender bar assist.
Who says you can’t drive with a 16ft canoe in the back of a gladiator? Not this guy! Took our electric trolling motor driven canoe out to our local reservoir for some fish’n and social distance’n!
Here’s the 35’s on my sport with a 1.5” front (sold as 2” but you remove the 0.5” stock spacer) coil spacer. Easy install and under $100. Much more trail worthy with an improved approach angle and 1.5” of pumpkin and belly clearance. I’ve fully flexed, albeit with the sway bars still connected...
You will be totally fine. You can remove the plastic air dams between the bumper and fender if it’s close to prevent rubbing while fully flexed with sway bars disconnected. Here’s my sport max tow with 35” x 12.5 MTs no lift, air damns removed and with 33’s and a 1.5” chop. The max tow fenders...
Ok finally got the back brackets, rivet nuts all in and installed. Turns out I had the skid plate on backwards! There should be a gap between the back of the plastic rubicon bumper and the front of the metal skid plate. Thanks for all the info!
35” tires will fit without a lift or leveling kit but you will need to remove the air dams. I eventually did leveling coil spacers but not required unless you want to avoid rubbing while fully flexing with front front sway bars disconnected.
Thanks! Although I like the highway speed ride (a little less bounce and drift), and look of the rubicon wheels and 33” ATs, I was very happy with the ride and look of the 35” MTs on the stock sport wheels. Can’t wait to swap and hit ze trail! Both highly functional for mud, sand, and snow.
35’s fit and do not rub (off road full flex with sway bars disconnected will likely rub especially without the wider max tow fenders) with no lift, no wheels spacers, but you will have to remove the air dams. I did eventually install a 2” leveling chop (actually 1.5” above stock ride height...
Bfg MT 35 x 12.50s on stock sport 17 x7.5 wheels. 2” leveling chop, air dams removed, max tow fenders, no rubbing while flexing but may if sway bars are disconnected.
