Alright, so I finally got the Trail Rail kit that I pre-ordered a while back and had some time to strip all of the gear out of my bed and install them.
Initial impressions are that I always like receiving something that's packaged well and this fits the bill. No bells and whistles, but the...
They're a stiff rubber.
I don't know if I posted these here yet, but I got all of the prototype gear installed and am really happy with it. Going to make some changes to accommodate the Trail Rail system, but as a concept, these are great. Here's some photos of the first gen prototypes...
Good lunchtime reading - thanks!
You'll find a use! What I've noticed on my Ford with the panels is that even if you aren't mounting a bunch of stuff to them, having a bunch of tie-down points for misc straps and bungee cords has been really nice. Got you added!

Whoops! Missed page 4..
A few people have been kicking this around - will explore the idea next!
Different from what Steffen is suggesting, but I agree and like that idea. Lugs could be an easy bolt-on attachment that would allow a person to make a simple and inexpensive platform for whatever...
Sure do!
Yea, the shallow bed makes the decked version less enticing, but 7-8" is enough to mount a shovel, hilift, etc, if we get a little creative. Not a priority, though.
Kicking around a number of rear seat options on days when my daughters car seat base isn't installed!
Done!
I'm...
I don't remember if I posted a pic, but I did a 2.5" rough country leveling kit in the front. Down the road, I'll do a 'real' lift, but I want to wait and see what some of the other aftermarket companies bring to market before committing. The 35's fit perfectly with the 17x8.5 wheels I'm...
10-4!
All sounds perfect! I'll be picking up a powertank for myself here soon, so I'll make sure to report back on how well it integrates (and make changes as necessary).
A full set as pictured is probably around 25lbs. The material is a high-grade, USA sourced mild steel. We powdercoat them...
Could I? Certainly. The issue is that I can see that it's quite a complex manufacturing challenge as far as bed racks do and shipping would be a logistical challenge. That's not to say that it can't be done, but it wouldn't be inexpensive (for me anyway).
Awesome! I'll keep that in mind. Saw...
Awesome! I'll get the pricing as aggressive as possible, especially for the early folks. Not looking to get rich on any of this stuff, just make enough to pay the bills and continue tinkering!
Love all of this! I was also too cheap to add the rails to my build, but I did just buy them on their...
Sounds great so far - you've put a lot of thought into it!
If you're considering the 35x12.50r17 KO2, you might also consider the 315/70r17 KO2. It's only .1" shorter, is a bit wider and most importantly, has a C load rating for a more comfortable ride in such a light truck. I've been running...
Misc Photos from Design and Development
I threw together an embarrassingly rough 3D model of the contours in the bed and got to work after work one night last week. My JT doesnt have the trail rail system (although I pre-ordered the mopar kit, which will hopefully arrive soon) so I made them...
So I made a set of these for my own truck recently and posted in my build thread. I got enough interest via reply and PM that I thought I should start this thread separately, to discuss bringing these to market and hopefully get some feedback from the community regarding features and such...
I should clarify, I meant as far as quality, fit and finish. The weathertechs for this particular truck may provide better coverage - that I dont know!
