Bumping this back up... been chasing down a high pitched noise at front of engine then I went out to see if I had any "racing stripes" from the decoupler pulley and I believe that I do. My alternator still seems to be charging fine as I regularly watch it fluctuate on the gauge from 12.6 - 14.3+...
Had the same thing happen to me. Pinion bearing failure, not the gear teeth for me. Drove from Kansas City to Denver and almost needed ear plugs. Sounded just like yours. Makes the same noise in drive with the wheels up in the air and rotating with no load on the tires. Out of warranty and good...
Bumping this up as my 2020 JTR with 61,000mi feels like the EXACT same situation... OP I sent you a DM.
From what I'm gathering though, an alternator clutch rebuild cannot be performed?
Thanks,
John
I'd consider myself a novice with route mapping and planning, thus I use Trails Off Road for the simplicity of trail downloads, detailed descriptions and offline usability. I tend to like to use the app on my phone to navigate instead of casting it to my 8.4 Uconnect. I also dabble with Gaia but...
@SoK66 thanks for including us in your journey and I hope everything gets fixed up for your rig. Out of this entire thread I did get to learn about preventative measures and I personally just ordered the Shift frame bridge yesterday to add to my build.
Also, if you're looking for new springs...
Bumping this up as I placed an order today (called them) for the frame bridge. I'm trying to be preventative on my 2020 JTR with Scout Tuktut camper in back. I'll let you all know how the process goes.
Well I know this thread is older but in case you are still looking, I just finished up my install of the EVO High N Tight rear bumper and RiG'd Ultraswing Mega-Fit. I absolutely love the combo and it's exactly what I was looking for.
Here's a brief initial impressions =...
Bumping an old thread....
I relocated my OEM camera with a Mule Expedition Outfitters bracket to the swingout of the Ultraswing. I thought about going in the center of the tire but this was less work and a solution already existed for the bracket.
Reviving this after 3 years :)
I recently got a RiG'd UltraSwing Mega-Fit carrier. Truth be told, I've always shunned away from a hitch mounted solution vs a fully integrated steel bumper with tire swing out... BUT I feel like RiG'd has really refined this swingout carrier and now the benefits...
@EVO MFG
Finally got around to install and I'm super happy with the outcome! I've never owned an EVO MFG product before and I am very impressed with the fitment. The holes lined up perfectly and the body lines were uniform... no enlarging or elongating mounting holes with a grinder bit to make...
I've been using the Amazon one you linked above with no issues. I replace mine every June & December. I don't follow the mileage rule. I just go by "seasons". The December change gets rid of all the summer leaves and trail dust, while the June change gets rid of the musty/wet winter smells...
I'm in the same boat with mine too. I get a noticeable "whistle/whine" under acceleration but it immediately stops the moment I let off the throttle. I thought maybe I had RF interference with all of my accessories hooked to the battery because it sounds that high pitched. I've unhooked...
Yep, that was us. We kind of skipped over the next "logical" step of the AluCab CC and went right to the hardshell. We are not "wheeling" like we used to and all of the people we go out with now own full size Ram/Tundra/Ford trucks so we can still go where the fullsizes go. Having heat and...
Selling my gently used AFE cold air intake with oiled filter & cleaning kit. This system has a deep, throaty sound from inside the cabin. I've never dyno'd the Jeep to collaborate the power gains, but it sure feels fun running up the throttle listening to it eat... that's at least 4.8+ HP...
