I got a whole brand new engine. I wouldn’t worry much about cams alone.
That’s where I think I’m at at this point. I’m not thinking brand new vehicle break-in. Only an engine that’s already been test run for about an hour. I’ll be driving highway for extended drive time and just avoid driving...
Back on the break-in subject.
in my experience with rebuilding motorcycle engines we always ran a certain miles at medium rpm/mph while casually running the rpm up and down to keep from glazing the cylinders. I’ve somewhat used that method with breaking in new cars when we buy them but running...
Something they've done at the dealer service was run the engine (assuming at idle) for 45 minutes to make sure it didn't overheat before road testing. I was never too keen on that for the reason you stated.
I got my Jeep back yesterday. They did replace the battery tray after all because the tray was broken where the power steering reservoir attaches and also the reservoir itself. They actually did a pretty good job. Everything was buttoned up real clean.
Now comes the break-in.
I put the first 60...
Whew!
Service Advisor just called. They're replacing the reservoir. It looked to me like a piece broke off of the tray but I'll take a new reservoir over having to dig out the tray any day.
That would work and be a lot easier than a new tray. Maybe I'll get lucky and they'll balk on the tray and I can slyly negotiate for something in exchange.
True.
I think I would rather just ziptie the power steering reservoir to the tray than have them dig through all that. I also have my own electrical additions that they would have to mess with and I don't like that either.
I got word from the dealer the CEL was from P0330 Knock Sensor circuit 2 so their now replacing that.
I also pointed out that they broke the Power Steering reservoir mount on the Battery tray. They said they would fix that too.
Eventually I might have a Jeep again. 🤪
Going fast is fun but I can’t afford the ticket so I try and keep it under 75.
I have an R1150RT that likes to cruise at 85 so I have to pay attention when riding it.
Definitely have to get cleaned up before the beer.
When I spend a long day working in the yard if I don't get showered before sitting down with some cold ones, I might not take the shower.
Unless of course the wife gets in first. :like:
Can you believe they actually forgot to put that tube back on?
I called this afternoon and had a serious talk with the service manager about this.
I asked him how they could actually return a vehicle to the customer in that condition, and I wanted them to put their top technician on it and get...
I edit added the part number from Mopar to my last post.
I couldn't read it in the pick
Edit: I just realized that number is for the 6 speed manual. Doh!
Just checked it and your number is correct
Cash.
In the US you have to pay taxes on the winnings. If you take the cash it will help pay the taxes and with what's left you can do whatever you want to your Rubi for a lot less.
When I used to fish big money bass tournaments a number of guys who won boats would sell them for the cash.
