Well that would have been nice about a month or so ago.
I have all the parts, just need to cut the rails and mount them to the cover. I bought a outlet cover from diamondback that had a previous system on it, but wasn't a frontrunner because the holes don't line up. Bummer.
Installed the Diamondback HD cover this evening. This is the main reason why I didn't go with a black top...felt it would be too much black across the top.

I think that was their original intention, to pull it out. Especially since they were talking about winches and kinetic rope. I also assume that after assessing the situation that plan changed to just a just a rescue of what they safely could.
I agree. I don't know enough about welding (especially aluminum) to know how much of a mess it would make, or if somewhat fixable afterwards. The hinge would hide some of it.
