  1. Shocks 2 brands which one

Out of the box, the Fox 2.0's are too soft.....I had a set open today for a rebuild/revalve on a 3500HD Duramax with 30K miles on them and the fluid was black! Perfect example of a truck over 6Klb and tows 20K+? This truck should be on 2.5's minimum! My Fox Elite 2.5's needed an oil change at...
  2. Shocks 2 brands which one

I'm not interested in anything Falcon from what I have seen and experience with clients. Too much money for what it is and poor support. I'm liking the Fox stuff because parts are easy to get, easier to get serviced, and the price is on par? I'm also pretty invested in tuning for the SDI...
  3. Shocks 2 brands which one

Do you have corrosion problems in your area? How do you drive? Mostly road or slow off road, cooler temps, under 6K most of the time.......2.0" Towing heavy on road, faster off road, warm temps, and weight over 6K most of the time......2.5" You may have to adjust your expectations or budget to...
  4. Shocks 2 brands which one

Not true about rebuilding the Falcons.....I can get seal kits, oil and shims in stock, and can perform the service. Just don't expect much if any support from them on custom valving. That said, Falcons are near the bottom of my list....Probably right above the "white rockets" (Rancho...
  5. NorCal Gladiator Folk?

Congrats! I was just in your neck of the woods on Friday picking up a new bike for the wife. Elk Glove has grown so much since I was a kid raised in Carmichael. We used to raise hell out there because the was nothing in Elk Grove......The Laguna overpass was the exit to nowhere back then......
  6. Motorcycle riders? What do you ride? Pic/Info Thread!

Picked this up for the wife yesterday.....She has done the ATV, PWC, and UTV thing, but 2 wheels she never could get the hang of. Excited to get another riding partner!
  7. Leaking axle seal?

I had a client who had his Tacoma regeared at a shop in another state. The pinion seal leaked so he took it to the local dealer to get repaired....they replaced the 3rd member under warranty and called him when it was done......Doh!
  8. Leaking axle seal?

Both you and the shop are in a rough spot because they were trying to do you a favor saving a few bucks. This is precisely why I include all bearings and seals in every gear job regardless of how many miles the vehicle has on it! I replace them and assume the liability so that I can warranty...
  9. Anyone else running 37s no lift?

I just don't understand why every thread has to turn into a pissing match.......... This immature behavior is exactly why I find myself checking out of the forums.........Why bother! One person's inability to understand why something is done and why it isn't done another time....Then spewing...
  10. Anyone else running 37s no lift?

You are partially correct on this....The diesel has longer bump tubes and requires less front bump extension. I have found on diesel Rubis with a 4.75 17x8.5 wheel, 37x12.50, average shock lengths, and OE control arm lengths that you need a slight bump extension both f/r. My preference for an...
  11. Anyone else running 37s no lift?

Yes they fit with no lift depending on wheel size and BS, but you need to bump so they don't contact the fenders at full stuff. That won't leave much uptravel for a smooth ride over rough terrain though.
  12. Solar Panel on Roof Rack

300ah usable is A LOT of storage for a mobile camping setup. Do you know what you are planning to run on it? Energy audit? At the same time, 300w solar is not a lot for a 300ah storage. For flat mounted panels, it would take an average of 13 hours of sunlight or 3 days to recharge a 300ah bank...
  13. Bilstein 5100 question

With a monotube/resi IFP shock, you can mount either way and it wont matter from a function standpoint. The OEM emulsion (Also Rancho, Monroe, RockSport, and other cheap shocks) need to be mounted body down or the base valves will be dry when the oil runs to the bottom (technically the top if...
  14. I DON'T THINK I'LL EVER NEED CHAINS FOR MY TRUCK...HOWEVER...

The other screwy thing I noticed changed in the wording a few years back for CA chain requirements for the R-1 conditions? Vehicles over 6000lb gvw are required to chain? They don't specify 4wd or not and then R-2 they don't specify chains at all for 4wd? 6,000lb.......that's pretty much any...
  15. I DON'T THINK I'LL EVER NEED CHAINS FOR MY TRUCK...HOWEVER...

Ya, cut off a few links as needed to fit tight. Tougher and cheaper than the chains marketed to us rich Jeep guys running big tires.
  16. Diesel cooling options and ideas

I had not seen that they have another version. Single 41mm vs two .750" cores? The single 41mm should see increased airflow through the unit vs the dual .750's with more turbulence? Crazy thing is that they lack any posted test data! If they could convince us that they will do the job and not...
  17. 392 out of a Wrangler into a 2021 gladiator.

I would think salvage on a Hemi JL is more than the swap parts unless its trashed and then a lot of the oarts you need wont be usable. Can't hurt to look for one and see though!
  18. Hurricane twin turbo - spotted in Grand Wagoneer

Hard to tell whats under the plastic....... Doesn't it really look like it would easily fit under a JT/JL hood? With the diesel gone, I'm already planning on going back to an HD Ram unless there is a decent substitute powerplant.......The 3.6 just doesn't do it for me. I wanted to buy a new...
