Does valvoline meet the chrysler specifications ?I've been using pennzoil platinium (as thats what the dealer recommended and has the specific chrysler specification met/or exceeded (forgot the exact specification)).
That is ALOT of metal to have shaved off - did you at-least change the oil after this job ? Did you see where they were caught ? That would worry me more than anything after a job like this.
I think its more of a manufacturing/assembly fault rather than a design fault - many VVL engines use this kind of a design and don't have any issues. Then again there are many who have gone well past 100k miles at this point with these same engines (without issues) i remmember meeting a guy that...
True, but there are a number of reports of FCA installing lifters from the exhaust side on the intake/VVL cam and they are wildly different which would explain the failures.
Keep us posted as I am curious - i am willing to bet that they put the wron glifters on the intake side - almost every story i've seen of this has been just this case.
Coming from someone who test drove a '21 Taco before getting the Gladiator - the Taco is more refined (less road noise inside) - however it just doesn't feel as burly as the Gladiator. IFS vs Solid Axles for one. The new 3.5 V6 is also not without issues, seeing others having engine issues is...
I'd be careful with that statement - a co-worker of mine has one and it burns about 3/4 of oil between oil changes (they were told this was normal) - also timing chain rattle, etc. I've read that they have issues with grenading the chains/gears (causing the engine to fail in an epic way)...
I switched from 2020 F-250 with the 7.3 gasser. It was a great truck but I knew that we would have new energy policies (elections) and therefore probably higher gas prices so i switched to the gladiator because i wanted something with solid axles and a proven reliable engine (the pentastar) and...
That is definitely valvetrain chatter and you need to get it repaired ASAP. Ask them to keep the lifters and cam for you after the repair - i am curious as to how many of these were just assembled with the incorrect lifters.
My understanding this is a assembly snafu - the new VVL engines use a different lifter on the intake side (VVL) many have found that they just used exhaust side lifters everywhere - which will cause this. The first gen VTEC engines used this type of rocker arrangement where there was no roller...
How are things holding up ? I am knocking on wood here - i have a bit of rattle on startup (the same as my old WK2 did and was told that all of these engines due this due to the way oil is routed in the engine the top end has a bit of oil delivery) but otherwise sounds fine to me- there is...
