I'm running 5.13 gears and I'm only at about 13mpg. I average around 50 miles of daily driving. Luckily I'm a business owner and I factor the cost of gas into my bids.
Other than terrible gas mileage I daily drive my Mojave on 40's and still wheel it hard as well. I totally understand making the change but I'm partial to a Hydro Blue Mojave. Still drives better than stock on-road and being lifted on 40's helps not destroy your jeep on trails unless you just do...
My TJ and my JK were both Rubicons so I had front and rear lockers. I figured I would be puting in a front locker on the Mojave but I wanted to see how it would do without it. My answer....I need a front locker.
Steering wasn't perfect but I could tell the Apex steering booster was helping. I was aired down to 12 PSI on the 40's in big tight rocks and it certainly was NO hydro assist.
The rock sliders are Quadratec Brute Strenght rails. They are a combination of steel tubing and aluminum dimple die...
I got the Mojave out on the rocks for a good hard shake out trip this last weekend. Just before hitting the trail I added some Rock Jock AntiRock Front Swaybars. We did Rodriguez Canyon which is considered a hard to extreme trail. I definetly found both its strengths and weaknesses.
The Good...
You're totally right that big custom builds typically start with a Sport. First reason other than just loving the aesthetics was I got a really good price on it ($49,699). The biggest draw of the Mojave is the Shocks. Although I replaced the shocks I was able to sell the Mojave internal bypass...
Originally I was looking for a Sarge Green Mojave and Blue wasn't even on my radar. When I got on the dealership lot they had this Hydro Blue parked next to the Sarge Green and I was immediattely drawn to the pearl undertones of the Hydro Blue.
The dealer had both a Hybro Blue with color...
Yes I had to drill the metal sleeves inside the bushings out larger on top and bottom. I thought it would be easy and it was a huge pain in the butt. The heat created from drilling melted the bushings a little. It was a slow and frustrating process for me. I didn't run into a spinning issue...
Install wasn't too bad. Instructions said it will be a 4-5 hour job. My friend and I had it installed in about 3 hours. I set the pressure to 1800psi (1500-2000 is considered safe).
So far I notice zero difference which is a good thing because I didn't have any issues with daily driving. I was...
Yes I was able to retain the facotory Mojave skid plate. I plan on going with aftermarket lighting up front as this bumper doesn't have provisions for the factory lighting.
Equal or Better. Its basically the same shock (2.5 body with 7/8" shaft) with the added benefit of dual compression adjustments but minus the internal bypass valves of the Mojave shocks.
Today I worked on mocking up the Barnes 4WD Pritchett Canyon bumper and SuperWinch SX10000. The bumper is a perfect look to the Mojave and the construction and welds are a thing of beauty. I decided to paint the bumper with Rustoleum Textured Satin Black most because I didn't want to wait till...
Just had the Mojave regeared to 5.13 and added an Adams 1350 front driveshaft today. I had Rebel Off-Road in Orange County do the work. When I got home I had a present on the driveway. My Barnes 4WD Prichett Canyon front bumper arrived. Time to get it painted and installed and add my SuperWinch...
For Sale is a practically new Mojave Shock / Spring setup. These were taken off the Jeep with only 1500 miles on them because I put a 3.5" lift on my Mojave with 40's. Because of that I went with all new shocks and springs. These are the Jeep / Fox 2.5 resevior shocks with internal bypass...
