  1. Is a winch really necessary?

Yup. Going through mud holes like that…unless you’re running 44”+ boggers and driving it like you stole it, you’re going to high center eventually. I did it twice years ago. Could literally rock the vehicle back and forth, as it was just teetering on the high-point between the ruts.
  2. Is a winch really necessary?

Yup. That and with the land yacht wheelbase of the JT…if you wheel it…you’re going to get stuck sooner or later.
  3. Steps but want to off road eventually

I met someone locally that’s running those. He was good enough to do a demonstration on how they operate. Pretty cool setup.
  4. ARE Bed Cap Topper weight requires upgrading to taller rear springs / spring spacers?

One nice thing about the topper (Alu-Cab here), is that the extra weight leveled out the height in the rear to match the front. No need to purchase a leveling kit here (stock JTR). Or it was an overpriced leveling kit…depends on how you look at it, lol.
  5. 35's, no lift?

Yup. The wee baby “35’s” look great on a stock height JTR. In case anyone was curious…they’re ~33.5” under load.
  6. Ordered another gladiator (8k MSRP increase)

I’d have the same issue with the Tundra (size wise). I had a full-size truck (Ram 1500). I really don’t miss it (size wise) for a daily driver. It was a blast to drive, but a pain to find parking.
  7. 10K for Lift

I did that for my XJ build years ago. For this one…I don’t want to know. ? On tires…keep an eye out for the Walmart tire deal threads. If you’re not super picky, it would be a great way to save a few bucks on 37’s. That and your CFO said that you can use $10K after New Years. Front load the...
  8. 10K for Lift

That’s the kicker. If you’re planning on paying to have the suspension and/or gears installed, I’d scale back your expectations a bit for that budget. $10K is a decent budget for a basic DIY build, but it’s not going to go far once you tack on $100+/hour for shop labor. Heck…check out the...
  9. Why is picking a tire size so difficult?!

“Buy once, cry once.” If you’re already thinking about 37’s, just get the 37’s. You’re not going to be happy with the 35’s even though the manners would be better.
  10. MOPAR Lift $2k Now?

Yes, but your warranty is priceless. ?
  11. BFG K02 versus Nitto Ridge Grappler

The BFG A/T KO2 is a good Easy Button decision, as far as A/T tires go. They’re relatively quiet and ride well (load rating C here in 315/70-17). Wet performance is fine, but I will say that the one time I got the rear end to loosen up on wet pavement was with these. It was my own fault, it...
  12. Rule change? This was left on the OVERLORD ...........

That’s cool. ? I’ve only been ducked once. I guess My JT isn’t approachable.?
  13. 2 attempts to steal my Gladiator so far...

I get that running door-less is fun, but at the end of the day…doors are like locks. They “keep honest people honest” and keep lazy and/or opportunistic thieves from having easy access to a vehicle. I can’t process someone still running around without doors when someone (clearly incompetent if...
  14. Is the Gladiator a bad investment

Maybe for some folks. I’ve never come across a scenario over my past 20 years of new vehicle purchases where it would have made more sense for me to go with a lease. Mileage limitations, condition penalties, etc. That and when I bought this, I had every intention of hanging onto it for 5+...
  15. 2 attempts to steal my Gladiator so far...

That sucks, but as the person before me said…I doubt the tube doors are doing you any favors.
  16. Alu-Cab Gladiator Bed Cap

After I got your PM, the gears started turning. I went and tried something different. If you rotate the bolt just right (as you already know)…it will just barely squeeze in that track and tighten down. Alu-Cab mentioned that M6 hardware would work. Assuming someone can...
  17. Is posting license plates on the forums a bad idea?

Well…having been doxed on an open forum years ago…count me in the “blur out the license plate” camp. At the end of the day though…If someone is a big enough psycho, they’ll find your information regardless of how you doctor your vehicle pictures.
