Yup. Going through mud holes like that…unless you’re running 44”+ boggers and driving it like you stole it, you’re going to high center eventually.
I did it twice years ago. Could literally rock the vehicle back and forth, as it was just teetering on the high-point between the ruts.
One nice thing about the topper (Alu-Cab here), is that the extra weight leveled out the height in the rear to match the front. No need to purchase a leveling kit here (stock JTR). Or it was an overpriced leveling kit…depends on how you look at it, lol.
I’d have the same issue with the Tundra (size wise). I had a full-size truck (Ram 1500). I really don’t miss it (size wise) for a daily driver. It was a blast to drive, but a pain to find parking.
I did that for my XJ build years ago. For this one…I don’t want to know. ?
On tires…keep an eye out for the Walmart tire deal threads. If you’re not super picky, it would be a great way to save a few bucks on 37’s.
That and your CFO said that you can use $10K after New Years. Front load the...
That’s the kicker. If you’re planning on paying to have the suspension and/or gears installed, I’d scale back your expectations a bit for that budget.
$10K is a decent budget for a basic DIY build, but it’s not going to go far once you tack on $100+/hour for shop labor.
Heck…check out the...
“Buy once, cry once.”
If you’re already thinking about 37’s, just get the 37’s. You’re not going to be happy with the 35’s even though the manners would be better.
The BFG A/T KO2 is a good Easy Button decision, as far as A/T tires go. They’re relatively quiet and ride well (load rating C here in 315/70-17).
Wet performance is fine, but I will say that the one time I got the rear end to loosen up on wet pavement was with these. It was my own fault, it...
I get that running door-less is fun, but at the end of the day…doors are like locks. They “keep honest people honest” and keep lazy and/or opportunistic thieves from having easy access to a vehicle.
I can’t process someone still running around without doors when someone (clearly incompetent if...
Maybe for some folks. I’ve never come across a scenario over my past 20 years of new vehicle purchases where it would have made more sense for me to go with a lease. Mileage limitations, condition penalties, etc.
That and when I bought this, I had every intention of hanging onto it for 5+...
After I got your PM, the gears started turning. I went and tried something different. If you rotate the bolt just right (as you already know)…it will just barely squeeze in that track and tighten down.
Alu-Cab mentioned that M6 hardware would work. Assuming someone can...
Well…having been doxed on an open forum years ago…count me in the “blur out the license plate” camp.
At the end of the day though…If someone is a big enough psycho, they’ll find your information regardless of how you doctor your vehicle pictures.
