It looks like doing some research that the 120v electric outlet in the 4XE only does a pittance of 150w anyway. I'd have to get an inverter to hook to the starter battery to run higher draw items like a microwave anyway and let the 4XE DC-DC converter charge the starter battery.
Not ideal. So...
So from pretty reliable sources I'm reading the Wrangler will get an update for MY23 and the Gladiator an update for MY24. Including a 4XE Gladiator.
I'm about to pull the trigger today on a 6% below invoice JTRD. I have three questions:
1. Would you proceed with the MY22 JTRD order or wait...
Very long thread! I'm looking for a bed cap for my Gladiator for overland camping (I plan to cut the rear cab bulkhead and front of the bed/cap and join them with a rubber accordion bellows).
Is the RSI Smartcap still considered the best option out there? Does the stainless steel get roasting...
What I'm worried about most is if my build works be close to needing new gears/and or axles.
I'm usually not punishing on equipment but sometimes you have no choice on tougher trails.
Especially with the diesel torque, locked up axles, 37s and the extra weight I'd have.
So you are basically saying a JTR that can do the Rubicon is going to suck on the highway and if good on the highway, is going to suck on the Rubicon?
One thing I hated about my JKRU was the steering was all over the highway and needed constant small steering corrections which gold olllldddd on...
I'm a prior JK Unlimited Rubicon owner and I just got rid of my RAM Power Wagon. I was honestly not that impressed with the Power Wagon, it was way too heavy and large for a lot of stuff.
I'm seriously thinking about purchasing a Rubicon Diesel with the following specs:
GLADIATOR RUBICON 4X4...
Seems there are two big players for the Gladiator cap: ARE and RDI. Any particular reason you guys went with ARE?
Some things I like about the ARE over the RDI:
1. Can get carpet interior of the shell for better insulation.
2. Fiberglass transfers heat less than aluminum.
3. Can get painted...
I'm looking to also order one. Could you elaborate on a few things:
1. Would the painted cap scratch off-road anymore than the Jeep paint would? I'd like my pinstriping uniform
2. What do you mean scratch/chip the bed at the corner? You mean the cap will damage the bed paint without two...
Interesting thread. I plan to go pretty simple: an ARE fiberglass cap permanently mounted to the bed, with the rear cabin bulkhead and window cut out and connected with a rubber accordion bellow to the bed and bed cap cut in the same shape. Sleep in the combined space.
The bed cap painted in...
