It would be tough to make the power top work, imo. In the JL, the top accordions up over the cargo area. Not a whole lot of space behind the rear seats in the JT.
Part of me was worried that the towing figure was a typo and meant to be 6750# or 6570#. Then there's the qualifier of best in class 4x4 towing. But looking around, the GM twins max out at 7600# in 4wd, and the Ranger at 7500#.
That's what I originally assumed, but the original leaks put both the v6 and 3.0 at 6500# and 1400# payload (1100# for the premium trim diesel). The Ram is rated at up to 7700# with the Pentastar in certain configurations too.
Looking back at old spy pics, I think this explains the overhang on the bed.
Zoom in and it's clear that the bed is longer to handle the spare aft of the dif. The Crew Chief didn't have a spare in that location.
Part of me is holding out hope that this is why we've only seen the bag camo.
A production mule with a JL front end and sticker camo should be the progression. It would all but guarantee the final design.
But if they were planning a big surprise for the unveiling, keeping the bags on...
While Gladiator makes more sense, as a Wrangler derived pickup, I think Gladiator is more marketable. Of course, that ensures that no half ton will come down the pipe. No surprise, really, but disappointing nonetheless.
Gladiator obviously makes more sense but I'm not sure it's as marketable as Gladiator. I just wish they'd gone with the 715 styling instead of straight JL.
Alas, I don't have the time, space or extra cash to take this on.
But just in case any NH Jeepers...or MA, ME & VTers for that matter... are interested:
Listed on the "NH Big Boy Toys/Sell And Trade" group on Facebook.
True, but try finding many on dealer lots. They're virtually nonexistent.
Also, the standard and extended cabs are often limited to certain trims, or you can't get certain options.
For example, using the Colorado build tool, the only way to get the diesel in an extended cab/long bed...
The leaked tow figures listed a base and premium model, with the premium having slightly lower tow rating, iirc. That suggests that the premium model might have a more off road tuned suspension.
Given that they've said that the JT will be intentionally expensive, it seems more likely that...
The price I'm expecting will very likely kill the deal for me. Which sucks because I've always wanted a CJ/Wrangler, and could use the utility of a pickup, so the JT seems the perfect fit.
At those prices I'd have to consider the Colorado or even a 1500. My only issue with the Colorado (aside...
Possibly. I do recall a previous article saying that FCA had not made a final decision on the name.
Gladiator is the most logical name, although I suspect that Gladiator would be a better "fit" in the lineup. Gladiator might also come across as a bit juvenile in this day and age. And given...
So I was doing a Google search for any new information on the JT, and I refined by results in the past week. Here's what saw:
Saw the "8 hours ago" and thought news was dropping. Unfortunately I didn't notice that the article was from August.
