  1. Gladiator Rubicon 4xe Hybrid Teased!

Rothbardian here. :like: Funnily enough, the place I've most often see that view from libertarians is over at EP Autos. Odd to say the least.
  2. Gladiator Rubicon 4xe Hybrid Teased!

What I find interesting is the underlying beliefs it tends to betray. The argument that paying less taxes means that it comes at the expense of another, rests upon the assumption that govt has a prior claim to all income. The other place I've seen such an argument, oddly, is from some...
  3. Gladiator Rubicon 4xe Hybrid Teased!

It's interesting that you lay the blame on the individual paying less to the government, who borrows to make up the difference, rather than the government that chooses to spend so much money irrespective of the taxes collected.

  5. Another small truck… Maverick

Do you need a full charge on a daily basis? Could you go 2 or 3 commutes without charging? I ask because charging cycles do matter for battery life. I wonder if the typical practice to charge it every night is ultimately counter productive? For my smartphone, I've definitely noticed less...
  6. Another small truck… Maverick

The thing that most people don't realize is that additional wind/solar capacity is almost always offset by new, conventional capacity (typically gas), to take up the slack when it's still and dark. There's no viable utility scale energy storage at the moment (things like molten salt, heat...
  7. Another small truck… Maverick

Hyundai (and KIA) have the industrial background and chops to build a legit truck contender. KIA is supposedly developing a BOF mid size truck for the Australia market. But in the US they'd obviously have an enormous uphilll battle to make a dent against the Big 3.
  8. Another small truck… Maverick

This is the Jeep concept from EJS.
  9. What does everyone think about the lifespan of the JT model?

Here in NH the Gladiator was very slow out of the gates, but I'm seeing them everywhere now.
  10. What does everyone think about the lifespan of the JT model?

...while driving up prices in the used market generally, and for trucks and SUVs in particular. Something, something, broken windows.
  11. Gladiator Rubicon 4xe Hybrid Teased!

Jeep implied that there were cooling issues with the 2.0 while towing. While the electric motor would help, for extended trips towing under load, the ICE would likely bear the brunt of the workload. The Pacifica hybrid uses the pentastar, so I think it would probably be fairly simple to adapt...
  12. 4xe TEST DRIVE

On a less positive note, one 4xe owner on the Wrangler forum had some sort of complete electrical failure. Cause unknown so far. https://www.jlwranglerforums.com/forum/threads/new-4xe-complete-electrical-shutdown.70862/
  13. 4xe TEST DRIVE

One reason that alternatives haven't moved the needle much, in terms of price or total share of capacity, is that it doesn't generally displace conventional power plants. Due to the intermittent nature, there needs to be a backup for when it's cloudy and still. Backup storage isn't viable or...

  15. Official Reveal: Jeep Wrangler Rubicon 392 V8 Hemi

Right, but the same is true of the 2.0. But Jeep said that there were cooling issues when doing truck stuff. It's also why the diesel has a lower tow rating. I certainly wouldn't put a money grab being out of the question. But Jeep has taken pains to emphasize that the Gladiator is a truck...
  16. Official Reveal: Jeep Wrangler Rubicon 392 V8 Hemi

I'm somewhat skeptical that the Gladiator will get the Hemi, unless and until there's a competitor with a more powerful engine option. It may take a Raptor Ranger coming sooner than later, or the alleged Bronco pickup, with the 2.7l ecoboost. Wrangler had the prospect of facing down the Bronco...

2021. Fits, as the 392 is said to be spring 2021.
  19. Official Reveal: Jeep Wrangler Rubicon 392 V8 Hemi

Confirmed reveal for the Wrangler tomorrow. One poster claims he just got info; $9500 option for Rubicon and Mojave 4 doors.
