They're developing an I-6, based off the GME engines. As mentioned, it was first rumored in regards to the Grand Wagoneer, but also as a potential future replacement for the HEMIs.

It was designed for turbocharging and direct injection.
However, the story is that early DI testing yielded such poor results, that it prompted the development of the upcoming I6 based on the 2.0.
In this podcast, starting at 1:16:30, they begin to discuss the 392.

One of the hosts says that he was told that the Hemi was definitely going to production back in November 2018.
The Kuniskis quote...
Well, first, "Jeep" has said no such thing.
This belief that the Hemi couldn't pass crash tests comes from an interview that Australian media did with Tim Kuniskis. He was asked about the Hellcat, which is when he said it wouldn't pass crash tests...
Yeah.
They're developing a new I6, based off the 2.0l. Was expected to debut in the Wagoneer or possibly the next GC.
It has a goal of being no more than 3 inches longer than the 2.4l Tigershark engine.
Supposedly 3.0l, which makes sense if it's based on the 2.0l, and also to avoid...
I think they've had the Hemi in their back pocket for some time, waiting for a time like this when they needed it.
The 392 is probably a stopgap until the I6 is ready, because they need something NOW to counter Ford.
I think it will probably be expensive, and they'll milk the big spenders as...
I hope you're right. The reference is more about how you find a way to interject the topic into any discussion. Yep, we get it.
You had better hope the initial rumors of the Bronco pickup aren't true...4 doors and an even shorter bed than the JT. Along the lines of the Explorer Sport Trac, or...
If I'm not mistaken, the Colorado is only rated that high in a RWD configuration with the diesel. Hence Jeep claiming the highest towing in class (ie 4x4 mid size).
That said, the article I posted earlier explains its a function of cooling, because other design elements of the JL/JT prevented...
Over on the JL forum, somebody pointed out that Jeep said they'd be showing the EJS concepts at some point.
And he pointed out that this mimics the style used on previous EJS concept teasers.

Check their Facebook. Last I saw you had to call for pricing/orders.
EDIT: As Eric said, $3700 + shipping, at least as of 3 months ago.
Supposed to just be a new hood and grill.
I agree. But the Bronco and Ranger will, at minimum, will exceed the Pentastar in their base engine, to say say the least of the potential upgrades.
There is talk of the 2.7 EcoBoost possibly being the base engine in Bronco, though not sure I buy that.
Jeep isn't going to make a significant...
