The manual in these trucks, especially with the 3.73s, drives like a 4 speed double OD. Maybe you live in flat CA, but here in the hills where it's 55mph everywhere, stop and go, yeah good luck using 5/6 gears EVER! Even on the highways that are 55-65mph, we have large rolling hills and often...
  2. Milage not what I expected

My 21 Willys with the dreaded manual and 3.73s and 32" MTs was getting around 17-21mpg avg in the summer, but with this shitty winter fuel I'm lucky to break 16mpg and closer to 14-15mpg avg. I'm mostly in 55+ areas with large/long hills from a slow start. I can't wait for better weather again...

When you're given a 4 speed with double OD, yeah we need better options. Also most of the rubicons in my area are pavement princesses, they just have them for the status and will tell you they've never used the lockers since they first bought it. Having control of my vehicle is more important...
  4. Is there a way to change from the capped fuel tank to capless like the old Stant part?

Yes, ford and a few others had so many issues at one point some manufactures stopped using them for a while, or they kept throwing codes for small evap leaks at the capless fitting. Compared to a standard cap system, yes they fail more often. While maybe one vehicle doesn't repeatedly, I'm...
  5. Got the bad news today

I had an experience like this, took my Outback to the dealer for a wheel bearing which I scheduled almost a month ahead. Got there and 4 hours later I still didn't have my key back. I go and ask what's taking so long, they give me the run around "your car is so rusted out we need to replace the...
  6. Is there a way to change from the capped fuel tank to capless like the old Stant part?

While your charger wasn't shaped like a wedge (think prius), it was not a giant brick going 55+. There's a reason MB went with a TTV8 in the g-wagon, and why it still only gets 12-14mpg but can go 165mph, power AND it's a brick. Expecting ANY truck to do REAL truck things AND get 20mpg or more...
  7. Is there a way to change from the capped fuel tank to capless like the old Stant part?

There's literally a hook on the fuel door to hold the cap and prevent it from touching the body panels. You also realize those "capless" systems often fail due to corrosion and dirt buildup much earlier, leading to "small evap leaks", CELs, and MORE annoyance than using a near 100 y/o design...
  8. GoPro as a Dash Cam

I did this until I ordered a Viofo A229Plus. Used my Hero 10 Black on the windshield behind the mirror, had to run a long usb-c cable to a battery in the glovebox and remove the internal battery while trying to get it to play nicely (they don't like to work without additional firmware upgrades...
  9. Exceedfab is looking for product testers.

Hello, I'm down to test the the fender liners and/or the rain gutter light pod brackets for my 2021 Willys. Was actually looking into both of those for future mods, since I work outside in the field sometimes and need work lights in remote areas. Also I plan of going to 35's with the lowest...
  10. Windshield - Only lasted 2 1/2 Months

Coverage varies by the policy holder, state, and company. In AZ they had to instate a law to prevent ins cos from dropping people excessively due to how many glass claims there are annually compared to most other states. Source: personal experience AND NCIB.org. But yes, generally glass is part...
  11. 2LO - installed

That's what I figured was allowing the 2L mod to work, but I figured someone actually tested this theory with a front locker and would chime in. Good to know there's people willing to try and post their findings. I wheeled my Outback when I was in AZ a couple times, made me realize why Low...
  12. 2LO - installed

I guess you can call it 2L with the FAD, but really its just 3L on an open differential since 3 wheels still get potential power even with the FAD forced open/unlocked. Only now you don't have remotely as much axle bind since you're now only fighting ONE turned wheel rotating at a different...
  13. I guess the blue ones are no good in the rain ......

You'd laugh at how many people buy 4x4s and Subarus and they they can be the next Ken Block or run the Baja 500 in their stock/unmodified vehicle without repercussions, or skill at the very least. I'm NOT laughing now that my insurance will probably go up since there's 4 blue JTs in my town...
  14. Mickey Thompson Baja Boss AT issues

As someone who worked in the auto industry, and is looking at buying a set of these for the foreseeable future, has MT corrected these issues yet? Also, OP, since MT told you DT never contacted them, are you taking DT to small claims court for fraud and theft? You said they told you "MT won't...
  15. Brake lines and when to extend them with disconnected swaybars and a lift

Thanks for being detailed! This is the type of posting we need to help each other out. Rubbing factor was added to reinforce the concept of modding for looks vs for function. As tires that rub in turns could catch a brake line and rip it off if not done correctly, mall crawlers generally don't...
  16. Windshield - Only lasted 2 1/2 Months

@ShadowsPapa I understand if you DON'T have it factory, but they were people who could show me their window sticker and it came with it, but their insurance wouldn't cover FACTORY GG and would force them to take the 3rd party equivalent claiming "we replace that type of glass so often that this...
  17. Traction Control Stuck Off - No Codes, No ABS/Service Light*

If you can view LIVE DATA from the ecu/tcm, record your sensor data (PID data, you'll need to look up what PIDs are used for TC/ESC functions), and see if sensors/buttons are doing sensor/button things are they should.
  18. 2LO - installed

I'm not understanding how this can work on anything other than the Selec-trac 4x4 with the Auto 4H. Unless I'm missing something here, the Command-trac (Part-time) 4H/4L is purely mechanical. Can someone link FAD info (searching just lists EVERY post ever) and are they on EVERY Gladiator?
  19. Brake lines and when to extend them with disconnected swaybars and a lift

After searching here and the wrangler forums (maybe not good enough) I haven't found enough info to make an educated choice regarding when brake line extensions are needed, related to lift/tire size/full articulation WITH sways DISCONNECTED. Both front AND rear, seems most info is related to...
  20. Windshield - Only lasted 2 1/2 Months

@ShadowsPapa I could be wrong, but based on the marketing for people to get the GG option, that's why I said what I did. If you've ever experimented with Corning's GG over the generations, you'll know which gen is good for what use. The gen they used, IIRC, was mostly for sound dampening (road...
