Disclaimer: only if you seriously wheel your Jeeps.
Just my observations:
Gladiator if you tow anything bigger than a small utility trailer. Go big on the lift and deep on the gears. Armor up the belly and the tail, because you'll drag it...a lot.
Otherwise, I'd vote for the Wrangler (and buy...
I doubt it would do a whole lot of damage to the receiver itself. Most do like you say with the pintle hook; it does push the contact point out a tad. My skid has a loop for a soft shackle, so it serves double duty. Piece of mind? I believe so, considering how often the Gladiator's drag their...
I went to 38's which no longer fit; therefore it's strapped down in my bed. I run a bed cover, so with the spare, recovery gear, tools and air up/down equip, there's not much room left.
I would recommend a solid, full steel rear bumper and a hitch skid of some sort. The Gladiator's drag the tail everywhere. I now run the MC and it's held up well.
This was just after running Fins & Hells Revenge one time each.
Yup. After Moab, go south to Bryce Canyon, Cedar Breaks and Zion. I'm not aware of any offroad trails there, but the scenery is definitely worth the drive. Four Corners is geographically unique. Grand Canyon isn't too much farther from there.
I make a habit of doing this during oil changes, but...
I took my driver's test in my folks 1976 Wagoneer. It had a 360, auto, quadratrac. A short wheelbase and lots of visibility, it was a breeze to parallel park. We had lots of good memories in that Jeep. We pulled a camper trailer took it to Colorado about every summer. One year it jumped time at...
I've been using that compressor for the past several years with a Morrflate 4-hose setup. It will take my 38's from 10 to 28 psi in under 6 minutes. It almost takes longer to setup and teardown.
I spent the weekend with some family wheeling at the Hot Springs Offroad Park in Arkansas. I must say, this place did not disappoint! It has miles of trail, from mild to wild, but I would say most are leaned towards a pretty built rig. Buggies with tons and 40's (and larger) were everywhere.
We...
Beautiful pics! We were just out there, and just missed the trees turning.
A buddy and I spent a week in Ouray a couple years ago and hit every watering hole in Ouray. I prefer rye instead of bourbon in mine, but the Outlaw Restaurant was the favorite. Cheers!
Nice! For sure a person needs to spend a week or so there.
I don't know how your rig is set up, but just a heads up, the other side of Ophir is pretty chewed up for about the first half mile. After that it's easy going.
If the other trails are snowed in, Last Dollar Road out of Telluride is a...
Thank You! It's my son's, but has some good history. I bought it new in 1994. The SPOA lift, tires, bumper and 4.16:1 transfercase were all done in 1996. He and I wheeled it all over Southern California when he was just a kid. I gifted it to him in 2005. He's taken really good care and takes my...
It's a great place to visit for sure. My two favorite spots are up on Governor Basin and Odom Point off Engineer Pass. Those views sill simply take your breath away. I tell people when they visit up there, if they never leave the pavement, they're only seeing 1/2 of Colorado.
My brother has...
Thank You.
The Samurai has a spring-over lift and 31's. The 2Dr JL has a 1" lift and 35's. The 4Dr JL has a 2.5" lift and 37's. I'm on a 3.5" lift on 38's.
Actually Black Bear isn't the most technical per say, it's just you're right on the danger's edge. It has a couple of off camber spots...
I met up with some family to run some trails this past week in the San Juan's. We had great weather and some outstanding views. A little too early to see the trees turn, but not much traffic on the trails, which was really nice. The rigs in the group were my Gladiator, a 4dr JL, 2dr JL and a...
It's under the lighting submenu "LED FTrn". The instruction manual states that some aftermarket lights may require a resistor harness.
However, the MetalCloak kit's wiring harness has a small circuit board inline that allows it to interface with the factory harness. No programmer needed.
