I must agree here. Adding F/I to a N/A platform usually ends up with them being bit finicky and prone to issues when anything gets close to those tuning left and right limits. I remember my G35 ran like utter shit unless I ran pump 93 or a really good quality 91. That became difficult in a lot...
I'd like to start by saying I am NOT the organizer of this event, I am not sponsored by them or benefiting by posting this, nor did they ask me to post this. The organizers are good friends of mine, and I will always support and promote my friends!
If you're in the general central USA, or if...
If you were always needing 7th gear @ what... 2100rpms?, whereas with the SC the added torque might mean you'll use 8th at 1700rpm, that could be where they are seeing the mpg savings.
Thats 1-2 psi at cruising speed. It's probably 6-8 pulley so it'll be more when called upon.
Back in my zoom zoom car days there was always the battle of SC vs turbo. I had a couple friends with supercharged 350Z making around 550hp, but they made around 375tq. My turbo'd G35, same engine just different body, made 509whp but 515tq. I'd walk away from them every single time.
Everyone...
SC is powered by the crank, so even at 1700rpm it will be generating some boost, not much, but it could be enough for some added low end torque to help with power at cruising speeds and rpms.
Depends on the F/I. Anytime you're generating boost, even if only a couple PSI, its burning more fuel. This is why SC typically eats more fuel than turbo because you're always building some boost with SC vs turbos usually not doing much at all until you get rpms and exhaust flowing.
Fair enough. I too grew up with manual hubs, but the FAD is simple enough that if it fails you can pop the cover and manually lock/unlock it in a pinch. It's not a trip breaker by any means.
6,395 is GVWR, UVW is 4,921. So probably 5.7-6k with gear.
Regardless, still creepin the limits of a Rubicon. IMO folks should really be shooting for at most around 4.5-5k loaded with a Gladi. Sure, they are rated for more, but you really should try to not exceed 70% on the norm to allow for...
Those don't provide wide angle mirrors though, thats what I'm looking for. I want the regular mirror glass, with a wide angle glass below it.
In regards to your mirror, if the housing tapered down and looked more natural vs bulging out I wouldn't mind them. The way the lights bulge out makes it...
Function always before form. However, even if it has a function, if it looks like ass it's not going on my truck. Products and installs need to be clean and look like they belong.
Back in my track days it was the same. Function before form.
But my taste usually always ends up good form...
You have... 5100s right now? Be sure to update with how the Kings compare. My only real complaint with the 5100s is they are a little harsh on washboards with the AEV HD springs.
Well this morning it was -9 and my trans temp never got above 140deg, and I saw around 14mpg when checking on the highway. This afternoon it was about +5deg and trans temp got up to 160 (after a lot more driving around post before heading home) and my mpgs went from 14 when it read 125ish, to 18...
I'm sure you will enjoy the Toyos. Mickey Thompson Baja Boss AT is said to be amazing all around including winter driving. Those will be my next tire. If I don't like them I'll come back to the Toyos.
I came from a 2020 Tacoma TRD Pro. I tried to like that truck but I just couldn't. Underpowered with a piss poor performing 6spd auto transmission left a very boring and frustrating drive experience. I can't speak for the 2024 and newer Taco with the turbo 4, but I can speak for Toyota in...
As someone who lives where winter is a real thing and not just a morning or afternoon nuisance, I can say my Toyos have been great so far. A week ago we got a base layer of ice and then 8 inches of snow on top and I was impressed how well they did even at 50% tread. Our intersections are still 2...
