You described it much better than I!
yet I’ve seen many cars sold with tires of different makes.
possible huge differences in spite of similar size markings.
I talked to a tire dealer who had a large business doing tire retreads. He said there was a huge difference in the actual size of tires. One brand's tires were a lot different than another brands.
Lived with it so far....I had JeepCares refer me to FCA Jeep Canada Customer Care where the rep was really helpful. We went to a dealer they recommended, not the selling dealer. The selling dealer had the TSB; handed it to them. Read it to them. They said the Jeep was the same as one in stock...
When we bought our new Jeep the dealer assured us that all Technical Service Bulletins were done. That was just over a year ago.
I complained the first day; took it in to Service and heard the next day that "It's a Jeep thing" and it was fine. It wasn't. Was it the worst steering Jeep out...
They took our wheels off. We have wheel locks, and never thought they would need them. Left a polite note to come back within a hundred km and they would retorque the wheels for free.
Jeep owners modify Jeeps HWKIGRL your G.O. is modified with a lift. Did the dealer do it?
Jeep dealers modify Jeeps before they are sold. Lift kits. Tires and wheels.
There should be no reason to refuse to install the new steering gear based upon the first TSB issued.
But I don't understand...
It takes a while to un-learn that after the new steering gear is installed.
Our JLU is improved a lot. It still has a small dead spot on centre. However, it wanders a lot less.
I"ve looked at every video I can, and read every post I can. Identified ---told the dealer---that it was a steering...
This is why I pushed to have ours done early. It's going to get worse
When we got our JLU the dealer assured us that all the TSB's had been done for the new vehicle. If they have old stock for sale they may push to do those quicker than real customers.
I'm glad the t s b exchange went well for you.
Glad you have a sensible dealer that didn't give you grief with mods. After all so many people put mods on; even dealers before sale.
I *think* the first dealer chose a test drive where there was no traffic, and where they wouldn't have insurance...
A year after getting our Jeep the steering gear has been replaced. It still has slop on centre.
A year ago we told service at the selling dealer, "It' the steering gear. Adjust it." They said no. It's a Jeep thing.
It's somewhat better.
What I did: I contacted JeepCares. They directed me to FCA Jeep Canada Customer Care. They both really helped.
IF THERE IS a quota, the time to get the parts and get this done is only going to increase...
So I contacted them right away. I hope this advice helps. I would and did do it now.
One year ago we told the dealer service that the steering box needed to be adjusted. They said it was fine. It's a Jeep thing. My thought: perhaps they're not paid for adjustments. Maybe they need to throw parts at the Jeep to be compensated for work done. In the last year we've complained a...
Well done!
On another forum the administrator suggested that brace. We had several talks. Now I’m on his .... list.
Brace is good if you need more strength. That’s my thought anyway.
Back in 1972? I adjusted lash in steering gear easily and this adjustment was easy
I told the dealership...
