  1. max payload

Sport S with Max Tow Package gets you the max payload
  2. Overland vs sport s

Sport or Sport S no tow, no max tow packages does not have the hitch. It has a spot on the rear bumper you can attach a ball.
  3. Overland vs sport s

The Rubicon already has the axles with the 4.10 gears. The tow package adds the extra cooling, and at that point the powertrain is the same as the Sport S with max tow.

  5. The one thing I wished I added - proximity key

There are different versions of these on most Jeep aftermarket shops. Quite common. And if you wheel, a second set on the lower hinge bracket pointed at your rear tires is a help. Nice to know where your rubber is making contact.
  6. Overland vs sport s

Tire size, gear ratio, and cooling in combination to lower the engine's heat rejection and be able to tow more as a result.
  7. The one thing I wished I added - proximity key

I thought the $500 was pricey, but now that I have my truck I wish I had it. It would be well worth the money to do away with the annoyance of unlocking and locking with the fob
  8. My JT came in, not buying it

I seriously want a diesel, but I don't put enough miles on day to day and the engine would just gunk up. Can't wait to see others rigs though - I can dream.
  9. Is the jt next?

I think not, they would need to find another solution to the third brake light. Stepping the tailgate down (looping the cables on the cleats (for want of a better word)) seems perfectly functional to me. I can get 99%+ of the things I want to get done the way it is. If I needed more truck I'd...
  10. Test Drove a Rubicon and a Sport S Back-to-back

The push button disconnects are nice, but on the JK they motor was in an exposed spot and had a tendency to quit working after a few months, Most if not all Rubi owners in my Jeep club including myself replaced them with manual disconnects. So to me that's still a wash. We need more trail data...
  11. Test Drove a Rubicon and a Sport S Back-to-back

The Sport S has a bigger fan and better cooling which can come in handy if towing. Rubi will retain resale value better. You put the same set of tires on a Rubi and a Sport S and I am betting they will drive pretty much the same. Manual disconnects can be installed under $200, so that's a...
  12. Death Wobble Cause found article

No, this is not something to get wound up over. My alignment needs fixing on my JK, and there is this one bump on an entrance ramp that when I hit I get death wobble, which means I lift up on the gas for about 5 seconds as it peters out and than hit the accelerator again. if I got my alignment...
  13. Unnecessary High pricing

I think you have a Catch-22 situation. If you buy off the lot, dealers are going to add options you may not want. But if you order, you wait.
  14. Regearing instead of Max. Tow. Pkg.

If you look at the Max Tow package it lists HD brakes as one of the components, which if we are wrong is where people are getting the wrong impression
  15. Regearing instead of Max. Tow. Pkg.

Yes you have to regear front and rear diff. Not the transfer case, but some places sell gear sets which include front and rear, and saves a few bucks. I always forget about the manual; there just aren't many around
  16. Regearing instead of Max. Tow. Pkg.

Max tow does give better brakes too, and the highest payload is Sport with Max tow. A gear set will be about $600 and then you need two bearing kits and install kits, so $745 is quite a good price for the gears I would add that if you are going to regear to 4.56 or 4.88, go for the plain tow...
  17. Truck ordered - clock now goes tick tock

Congrats man. Hope the Jeep gods smile upon your build and get it out quickly. I also like the base wheels too. I look at the build sheet for my Sport S and it shows the black wheels being replaced by the silver ones. I want the black ones! Good call
  18. Regearing instead of Max. Tow. Pkg.

The max tow is what I went with, and it has the most value for the dollar of all the packages. You get the HD Dana 44s, with thicker axle tubes besides being wider. And the 4.10 gears. You also get HD disc brakes, 240 amp alternater to power a larger fan and get better cooling, a zoom on the...
  19. Post your 2020 JT Gladiator build status

Well good news, and bad. First the bad. The reason I do not have my Gladiator yet is of all things, a dead battery. Yup. It's in the depot 50 miles away with a dead battery, has been there the past month, and no way of knowing how long it will take someone to head out there from FCA and replace...
