I've been running the cooper AT3's since December, and have about 12k miles on them. Very quiet, and very good road characteristics including towing. Probably the best road characteristics I've had on an AT or MT on a jeep, and I've run Toyo Open Country, Mickey Thompson ATZ, and BFG K02 kevlars.
Do you still have the death wobble after the D60 install? I had death wobble on my 1st JK, and it turned out to be a bent C joints on the axle, due to large tires/trail stress. A DynaTrac Pro44 swap solved it for me. If you had a similar issue, the D60 swap would have solved it.
Following the thread, and really anxious for real-world feedback on a JT diesel install. Many threads on this forum waiting for a diesel specific lift, due to softness of stock springs, even Mopar diesel specific lift softness. Would like to see if AEV has solved the diesel spring rates. I...
The reviewer for the gladiator rubicon said it fit with the only exception being the winch plate would not work without trimming because of it interfering with the sway bar disconnect. He opted for another manufacturers winch plate rather than trimming. So, with workarounds it could work on a...
Thanks for the update KurtP. You are running 37s and doing the drag ling flip. If you are just kissing the control arm with 37's, you think if someone was running 35's they would clear?
@KurtP, I seem to recall from your other posts that you are running the Clayton upper and lower control arms, And AEV relocation brackets. Per one of the other posters above wanting to know if these Borahs will clear the Clayton control arms? @bastage was concerned he wouldn't be able to run...
What mounting bolts/nuts did you use? Given that the RSI crossbar is so backordered, I'm trying to figure out another solution, and I've not seen clear info anywhere on specifically what is needed.... e.g. an M8-1.25 Nut or Bolt of what width (...13mm, 14mm?) and thickness (...5mm, 7MM?) would...
Nope, he wouldn't. Showed THIS pic to a friend of mine, who said he looked very proud of his bag, but wondered how he could shoot an over-under without opposable thumbs. I told him I'd been working with him on a bark-activated trigger!
... but we digress... :)
Here's a couple I snapped between snow showers, with Cooper Discoverer AT3 285/75/17. Love the look of the warn wheels, but at 0 offset, I still get a little poke with 11.5 wide tires. I didn't get the angle quite right on the poke-pic, but if you look at the rear tire you get a better feel for...
Firstly, my prayers join those above for you. It should give us all pause to consider our time spent. I respect your choice to do something special with your wife.
You said you were at 6200 with a full tank, no passengers.... plus the other items you later listed I'd guess are about 200lb...
Once you get the trailer on it, would like to hear how it holds the gears. I've got a JTRD right now on 35's, stock suspension (but am looking at some stiffer options), and will be towing a trailer about the same size as yours up 6-7000' mountains this summer. Eying if a lift and 37's might be...
I've been moving in on the No-Poke vs. Poke spectrum. When living in the arid SW, Poke was fine. Now with the sloppy roads in mountain NW, with sloppy dirt roads, I'm trying to pull the tires back in.
Unfortunately, slim pickings on wheels with 5"+ backspacing... unless you like AEV. I run...
They both correct geometry, but differently. The Clayton adjustable control arms allow for full castor adjustment. AEV (at least on my JK 2.5 lift) get the caster pushed out using the factory control arms, which are not adjustable, but the control arms are then more parallel to the ground and...
Full disclosure, I've previously owned the "True" minivan version JK (2008 3.8), which drove me to buying a pentastar JK the moment they came out in 2012. That was a night and day difference in vehicles. The pentastar JK was the most versatile vehicle I've ever owned... except couldn't tow...
Good thread going here... a couple comments/questions on the above...
- Drop Brackets: @KurtP has a good writeup on this forum where he did a Clayton 3" lift AND AEV drop brackets on a Mojave...he did it because he prioritized on-road performance, while still maximizing off-road capability...
I put 35" Mickey Thompson Baja ATZP3s on my new JTRD, and in my opinion they are the noisiest new tires I've had on a jeep. Much noisier than the Wilepeak MT's that were stock! I've run Goodyear MT Kevlars on JKs that start out quiet, and then within about 10k miles get noisier. I've run Toyo...
