  9. New jeep. Mpg / gearing questions

IMO, I think 5.13 is right for your heavier rig.
  10. New jeep. Mpg / gearing questions

my offroad shop told me 5.13 would get worse mpg for my light setup. So I did 4.88 with 37s.
  11. New jeep. Mpg / gearing questions

I regeared when I went to 37s not for mpgs but hopefully to reduce wear and tear on the transmission and engine. Some will disagree that regearing helps this and that's OK. I think it reduces stress on tranny. I have Sport with Max Tow so I went with 4.88s which very closely matches the 4.10s...
  12. New jeep. Mpg / gearing questions

I have 37 Toyo Open Country R/T Trail tires, 4.88 gears, AT, no bed rack or heavy stuff and get about 13 mpg city, 15 hwy. I have a light foot and don't speed. I'm shocked you're getting 16 mpg.

  14. Powder coat or just spray paint?

I'm thinking of getting some unfinished skid plates for rear shock mounts and control arm joints from Rusty's Offroad. Is it worth getting powder coated? Or just rattle can spray paint and touch up as needed? Thanks in advance.

  17. Towing capacity guesstimator after lift and 37" tires?

Thanks to all for your input. I probably will NOT do this. But if I do will go with car dolly to reduce tongue weight and overall weight.
  18. Towing capacity guesstimator after lift and 37" tires?

Hmm. Probably good advice. But I thought tongue weight just counts against your payload? Is there a specific rating for tongue weight?
  19. Towing capacity guesstimator after lift and 37" tires?

Yeah, I think it’s too risky on the transmission. Hopefully I won’t even need to do this. The whole reason is the stupid Hyundai dealer in Denver may not get my daughter’s transmission replaced in time for her to drive back to OKC. Finders crossed.
