I have 37's with a manual 3.6 and so cannot speak authoritatively on auto but i can say that since regearing to 5:13 i have ceased lusting for hemi conversion and/or corvette as second vehicle. Totally different driving experience, love it! And i think i actually get slightly better fuel economy...
I venture occasionally onto our Oceano Dunes. I've heard mud tires are not good on sand. I've used All-Terrain, first the stock Falken 33's which worked ok, now have BFG K02 37's which work better. I air down to 15. Definitely helps to use Offroad Plus switch but remember that does not fully...
Driving with 37's without regearing is a pleasure but because i have jamborees coming up i will soon regear to 5.13. It's a $5000 job at the local dealer, but recommended for any rock crawling. Plus i do live on a hill and 2nd is not quite low enough. Will be nice to have a usable 6th gear...
I had no problem with same size K02's (fully inflated) but you're right, i need to trim a bit off the end of the hitch that goes into the receiver, if i have those names right. (Either that, or drill new holes in the hitch).
I would like to see the features advertised as included in the 2020 JTR stick i bought new, for example, as i recall, rear lockers were supposed to work in 4H. There was a software patch for 2020 but i believe it applied only to Mojave version, not Rubicon. I've never been able to get a straight...
I recently put 37's on and my standard 4:10 gears are doing fine around town and on the freeway. Also seems fine on the beach and dunes, using 4H. No need to regear for these venues.
[Let me clarify: By "fine" i mean it actually seems better. I enjoy driving more since first gear becomes a real...
I have a 2019-built (one of the first) 2020 model JTR and to my knowledge the software update to get rear lockers working in 4H did not apply to mine, so that is a negative possibly. Still no lockers in 4H. Otherwise, zero issues.
UPDATE: Finally sold these in July of 2024 on Craigslist. Although i love the JGF as a happy member since early 2019, this forum ad in the member marketplace section was not only completely ineffective, with zero replies, it was also overly burdensome with excessive red tape. Total waste of time...
