No, actually the hard end of the JKU Mirror base hits the soft sheet metal on the cowl first.
It's especially notorious (for me at least (on windy days or parking downhill) when removing standard doors & putting on my tube doors. If the limit strap is off, look out for swinging waaaay too far...
I should have had these on two different JKU's before I dented cowls when removing doors... but doubtful I would not have bought them preemptively. Not many of us would admit we'll eventually have a mental slip resulting in that dent.
I don't think our JT's or JL's are as prone to this...
I absolutely love my Alu-Cab topper because of the Huge door openings. When they are open it's almost like there's no topper installed. The ease of access on 3 sides of my truck bed should not be overlooked.
Also of note, the "gap" between the topper and cab that bothers some people is actually...
I started a Facebook group called Wheat State Gladiator Group... Kansas is the Wheat State. . Find it & ask to join. I'm the administrator. I'm hoping to schedule some meet ups in 2024.
Also of note I am an active member of the Flint Hills Jeep Club. We're a very active club, in state &...
A. Driving without a bed cover is not part of the question. I plan to use either my tonneau or topper.
B. Honestly I the deciding factor was my Alu-Cab topper was already on so I left it on.
C. The trip is 3,000 miles out & back.
Thanks for all the feedback.
I've been to Moab, but this year's club destination options were the Rubicon Trail (CA) or Buena Vista (CO). I chose "The Con" because it's on my bucket list.
After this year I'll likely alternate between Colo & Utah wheeling trips.
I have a winch and it's not just eye candy... I'v used it...
Hello All,
Later this summer I will be tackling the Rubicon Trail.
My Gladiator is a Rubicon Edition, with a Mopar Lift & 35" Wildpeak MTs.
How likely am I to damage my OEM Drive Shaft, or the U-Joints in my drive-train? ... beyond too damaged to drive home (2 day drive).
Note: It won't be...
Excellent points. Literally. ?
The main reason I am considering a slider is because of those two seams/edges on the rear you point out with red arrows.
I had diff skids on my 2018 JKU on 35's, with oem diff covers.
I was thinking I would do the opposite so I don't lose any clearance. Not one fraction of an inch clearance loss.
Do you Rock Crawl? Do you hit "big rock & rutted" trails with Wrangler Peeps?
I will be doing the Rubicon Trail later this year & am concerned about my stock Diff Covers...
Seems like the diff covers get tougher with every generation or Wrangler, thus less of a need to "upgrade".
What are...
I bought different Body Armor 4x4 doors. They go all the way down to the sill/opening.
As far as I can tell Body Armor 4x4 does not make mesh inserts for them, so I will need to get something figured it out.
Personally, here are the things I find important.
1. Optional Panels: IF you go off road, or even drive gravel roads, buy a set that follows the lower outline of the door opening. NOT a set that only goes part way down to the bottom of the door. This way you can add (removable) mesh or solid...
