So the back window of my hardtop was leaking, and the dealership got approval from FCA to replace the back window under warranty.
Today was the big day, and the dealership had a glass company replace my back window.
After getting my Jeep back this afternoon, the first thing I noticed was that...
@PhantomChameleon - No problem!
To answer your questions...
1) Did you install yourself? If so was it pretty easy and were any special tools needed? I'm not very mechanically inclined but am pretty decent at figuring simple stuff out.
I had a local dealership install it. I didn't have the...
@PhantomChameleon - Like @Jtcunningham, I've had zero issues with this kit and still have it installed. It's a very simple kit (it's literally just the 1.5" spacers), but that's a good thing because it's very unlikely you'll have any issues with it.
I do recommend getting an alignment done...
Yea, it's getting very, very old...
And nobody seems to know when the parts are going to get in. The dealership said parts should have been in last week. Jeep says they'll be coming in a week or two.
They are providing me with a loaner. They didn't have any Gladiator loaners. They gave me a...
Sorry to hear that man. I'm in the same boat as you, but hopefully your dealer will get it in asap.
Like you, my dealer won't let me pick up my Jeep (due to it being unsafe to drive)...
I dropped my Jeep off on September 1st. So next week it'll be 2 months my Jeep has been sitting at the...
Maybe a TSB will come out if enough people complain?
But then the parts required to fix will probably be “restricted” thus making it a pain to get done (or painless if you’re lucky).
@iGlad - My hope initially was that by leaving it there it would get done faster, and to avoid the hassle of having to setup yet another appointment, and having to coordinate with my wife on dropping it off again (this was the second visit to get the steering & back window fixed). All hope is...
I had to leave it there initially because I was also getting my back window fixed (it leaked when it rained), along with the steering. This was the second visit for both items.
The first time I dropped it off for the back window & steering they did an alignment and said the steering was fixed...
Yea I’ve probably been too laid back with the dealership. I’ve tried to be understanding based on the fact that some dealerships are having issues getting the parts... but with the bad communication and coming up on week 4 of sitting there at the dealership... it’s beyond frustrating.
You’re...
No loaner. I was given the option to rent one of their vehicles when I dropped it off which shocked me.
For our Toyota through a different dealer... we had some factory warranty work that took 3 days and they immediately gave us a rental at no charge. I assumed that was standard practice but I...
Yea I hear ya!
I dropped my Jeep off on September 1st because the back window of my hard top was leaking and for this steering service bulletin.
The back window was done that day, and my Jeep has been sitting at the dealer since then
I texted the dealer on Sept 9th asking for an update and...
That's great to hear @robinja! Mine is still at the dealer because I was getting the back window fixed, and the steering TSB taken care of too. The window is done, but since they are waiting for parts for the steering TSB I haven't had a chance to find out what they did for the back window yet...
Yea from what I’ve read, and from asking that same question to Quadratec who sells the kit, it is 2” all around.
So it maintains the factory rake 100% (with no reduction in rake). It’s not the kit for you if you want to level it out.
Honestly, not sure as far as the touch free car wash. I did take my Jeep through a touchless car wash a few times, but I hadn't noticed the leak at that point (but it very well could have been leaking).
Might be worth a try when the Jeep is dirty and you have the hardtop back on since they do...
@Shootist - When it rains, I've been getting water leaking in at the top of the back window in multiple places as seen here-
We had a ton of rain so it dripped down and somehow found it's way inside the hard top below the window.
I have an appointment with the glass people at the...
FOUND THE WATER! :-)
The water was trapped in the hardtop itself (in the area below the back window). The solution to getting rid of it was taking the hardtop off, and flipping it upside to let the water drain out.
Letting the hardtop sit upside down got most of the water out... but we did...
