Be sure to wear some sort of hand protection. They include a glove in the box but, you'll really need two. Some sort of latex or nitrile (the blue ones) gloves are definitely needed. They even tell you on the box, do not let it touch your skin so...
Yeah, saw that on ABC World News last night.
My first thought when they pitted the Gladiator was, "Poor Gladiator" 😥😥😥
Yeah, that old drunk won't be driving anymore in this lifetime.
So, today I used that Cerakote Ceramic Trim Coat on my Overland (ordered 5/19, delivered 7/19) to clean up all the trim bits and pieces.
WHAT A DIFFERENCE!!! Most of the trim was still dark except for that piece under the wipers which went to a dull gray.
That piece is now a shiny black. My...
You'll probably want to shift manually. Otherwise you'll be screaming along in 4th at 60 MPH and 4K RPMs.
Personal experience, I tow a 27', 5,100 lb (with all we want or need) travel trailer and shift manually. I drive at 65 MPH in 7th at around 2,100 RPMs. I have the Overland with the 3.73...
So, I went to my local favorite mechanic and asked them to quote me a price to replace both batteries. I did mention to them the quote from the stealership, $750-$800, as well as, that the stealership uses batteries with a 3 year warranty.
Well, they came back with a cost of $590 and they also...
As far as moving it when it's in park and won't start, it's very simple.
Just put the transfer case in Neutral. It'll free wheel all day and night. That's how people tow Jeeps behind their motor homes. Simply leave the transmission in park and put the T-case in neutral.
The 4.0L was rated at 190 HP.
I was able to bump up the one I had in my '96 ZJ Laredo to an estimated 210 HP by opening up the intake, free flow exhaust (cat included), a throttle body spacer that 'swirrled' the air coming in, and finally, I replaced the factory 19lb/hr single point injectors...
I tow a 27', 5,100 lb travel trailer (twin axle) with my Overland, with the trailer package, (ordered 5/19, delivered 7/19) and shift manually.
I have only once tried letting the trans do it's own thing. When I did, it was like 65 MPH in 4th at like 4,500-5,000 RPMs on the flat...wholly...
Rampage with the Thorne Engineering adapters. What I use are the mirrors that were for the JK, I got from Amazon, with the Thorne adapters and, I'm very happy with them. My trailer is 7 1/2' wide and I can see clearly what's coming up on me.
Also, do a search here for a thread about those...
It's officially spring now.
I replaced the Freedom panels with my BestTop Sunrunner top
Took me all of 10 minutes, all by my lonesome.
I've thought about that but, my main concern is that systems are so intricately intertwined in cars these days that if I disable one, what else is going to start being glitchy as a result?
I agree that the AS/S is a PITA (pain in the ass) but I've never used mine. The AS/S disable button is the...
So, I checked in with my stealership to see how much it would cost to replace both batteries and was told it'll be between $750 and $800 to do the job. Most of the cost is the batteries. He said the main battery was like $300 something and, the Aux battery was $299. I remember replacing a...
The alternator and cooling fan's greater capacity are more for YOUR protection than anything.
The higher capacity cooling fan helps keep engine temps more under control, especially on hot days. I have towed when it was 100+ degrees out, my AC going, and not seen over 225 degrees engine temp...
So, my question is that if I do the AS/S battery delete as suggested here, by taping up the Aux negative (disco'd from the Aux battery) and removing fuse 42, will that also turn off the 'A!' symbol showing up on my dash right above the fuel gauge?
If this is so, then it's just a matter of...
Well for the first time since I took delivery of my Gladiator (ordered 5/19, delivered 7/19), with the original factory batteries, today I got the dreaded Auto Start/Stop Unavailable, Service...(the system).
So, having said all that, I know some or most of you, have done the AS/S battery delete...
While I always had Grand Cherokees, I really liked the Wrangler but, to me it was kind of impractical for what I would need. When I saw that Jeep was coming out with the Gladiator, I waited until they opened the ordering lines, and ordered mine. That was May of '19.
To me, it's just more...
I saw that episode on TV about Apocalypse Gladiator 6x6 builders, where they build a bad ass Fire Gladiator for the local fire company. It had a 10" lift, 43" tires as well as a connector for a moveable fire jet nozzle mounted on the top of the rack (remote controlled) as well as fittings to...
While I see the class IV receiver and the 4 and 7 pin trailer connectors, I do NOT see the 240 amp alternator or heavy duty cooling that one would get with the trailer package.
Ergo, this particular vehicle, as equipped, is only 4,000 lbs towing capacity.
Can it tow 6,000 lbs? Certainly but...
