So, today I used that Cerakote Ceramic Trim Coat on my Overland (ordered 5/19, delivered 7/19) to clean up all the trim bits and pieces.

WHAT A DIFFERENCE!!! Most of the trim was still dark except for that piece under the wipers which went to a dull gray.

That piece is now a shiny black. My running boards (factory) were getting progressively grayer and now they're back to the factory blackish/gray as are the bumpers. I did the fender trims, not that they really needed it but, they got it anyways, and the hood latches.

All the trim really pops against the Firecracker Red.

Highly recommended product.

It’s been sitting in a box waiting for me to get to that project. Thanks for the reminder, and for the testimonial.

Retired. Finally !!
Well, they already started trying to snack on the new latches. Unbelievable. So far, they haven’t gotten very far. Maybe the new latches are too hard or don’t taste very good. If these fail, I see no option but to go to metal latches.
Duct tape a mouse trap on the latch. Put peanut butter in the trap. It may not kill them directly, but you'll most likely break a jaw or a snout and they'll die soon enough. Mean ? Nah, ya just don't mess with my stuff.

Squirrels are just rats with a better Public Relations team. I suppose you wouldn't give quarter to a rat, so why a squirrel ? Kill 'em.

Be sure to wear some sort of hand protection. They include a glove in the box but, you'll really need two. Some sort of latex or nitrile (the blue ones) gloves are definitely needed. They even tell you on the box, do not let it touch your skin so...

I wanted to move the spare to the top of the drawers and ordered some billet aluminum cleats and a 3 way spare tie down but didn't even have enough room to use the ratchet mechanism on the tie down... so back to the old way of mounting on the bottom of the rack.

This throws a wrench into things.

Could the straps tie down to cleats on the bed rail? Looks like there’s enough space from the rail to the top of the tire to maintain pressure.

Yeah that's what I was trying to do. Not enough room with a SpeedStrap to actually utilize the ratcheting mechanism with the handle, it'd hit the bottom of the tent or rack. Maybe with another strap setup, but not that one.

The "problem" with the current setup is the tire needs to be centered front/back to hang on the third rack support. With it on the top of the drawers I'd be able to move it forward almost a foot. I intended to then mount a folding table above it on the rack and a floor jack and two 5 gal water jugs on the top of the drawers behind it... but none of that can happen with this setup.

Would it have worked with lashing straps instead? I use them almost exclusively unless super heavy items.

I do too but I don't think I'd be comfortable with those alone

Not if it’s hanging, but sitting on top it should be fine. At least if they’re good ones.
