As a GIS forester, this is interesting. The best phone app I have used is Gaia but I still find it frustrating and limiting. OnX just makes me want to throw the phone out the window.
I'm someone who really likes my seasons, but I gotta admit.... That doesn't look too bad right now. Luckily I'll be down there for a few days in a couple of weeks.
It'll be interesting to see what Toyota comes to the table with. When the third-gen came out, Toyota didn't really have much competition in that market and pretty much rested on their laurels. Now that there is some good competition in this market, we'll see if Toyota steps up to the plate. I...
There's already been some good advice on what to bring. The main thing is to go out and have some fun. I don't really know that area but if it's just dirt roads then you should be fine running by yourself as long as your smart about it. If it's a little more than gravel roads I would suggest...
I'm guessing that Jeep came out with the Xtreme Recone pkg in direct response to the Bronco being available with 35" tires from the factory. Jeep wasn't going to let that slide and take a back seat to Ford. Jeep doesn't have to worry about that with any other midsize truck, so there is no...
White Rim trail in Canyonlands NP is a fantastic trail. It's an easy trail that a stock rig can run. The trail is close to 100 miles from pavement back to the pavement so ideally, you would camp halfway but you can run it in a day. You do need a day-use permit.
If you want a shorter run...
You and I are in the same boat. I got the green light from the wife about a month ago with the same budget. Prices include shipping and sales tax for Washington and I'll be installing the lift myself so no labor cost except for mounting the tires.
Suspension, I went with a full Clayton 2.5"...
No, I didn't pump anything but It's only due to the device on the fill neck otherwise, it would have been bad. I was in a hurry to get back on the road so more than likely I would have filled up and hit the interstate only to have a very expensive repair bill. It's the only time I've ever run...
Yep. I was headed back to Washington from a family reunion in Iowa last summer. The station said it had diesel so I pulled in and grabbed the green pump handle without paying attention. I did find the diesel pump out by itself with a black handle.
I must admit that Jeep's "nanny" device on the fill neck saved my ass. I cussed Jeep up one side and down the other for that thing for a couple of minutes until I actually noticed that it was for unleaded. I've been driving some sort of a diesel for twenty years and it's the first time I've...
Just because it's green doesn't mean it's diesel. For 99% of the pumps out there, that's the case but somehow at least one BP in South Dakota didn't get the memo. They put good old regular unleaded with a green pump handle.
You can add them if you want. I have a diesel and was able to add them. The only problem is that the spot you're supposed to put the relays is taken up by a fuse box on the diesel, so you have to get creative on where you put the relays. It is nice having a stock look but I find that the...
You can add them later on if you want. It's kind of a pain just because it's time consuming but not horrible. In hid sight I probably would have just done Switch Pros or Spod.
With no bead locks. In deep snow, I'll go down into single digits with no camping gear. On regular trails, I'm in the 15 to 25ish range depending on if I'm carrying camping gear and how much. On logging roads, I usually don't air down.
That's a great drive! I've been in that area a couple of times and I gotta admit that I'm a little jealous. Not having a way to air back up, I wouldn't go too low. Assuming the weight of just general camping gear I would run 25 PSI. 25 PSI should soften the ride a little and not build too...
You should be good as long as you don't plan on running something like Steel Bender in Moab. I ran over Engineer Pass completely stock and a little on the heavy side and had no problems. I did rub belly a few times but nothing major.
