I like tinkering and adventuring. Helps me de-stress. You don’t buy a Jeep because you want an A-B commuter. You buy it because it’s a toy. I love my toy. It was a bad financial investment, but a wonderful mental health investment. Worth it in my book.
After a year, I’ve never used the media hub or front outlet :/ I feel like these spaces could be better used!
To that end I’m designing covers to replace these plates. Has anyone else tried this? I can share the STL files once I have a functioning prototype if anyone else finds this useful.
There is a Gladiator disassembly video on YouTube. Basically i used a couple flat head screwdrivers and lots of careful leverage.
For the pattern, I made it up. I extra reinforced the points where the vises sit to eliminate as much of the “sinking” in the middle as possible.
Told my husband I wanted to trade my Volvo for a Gladiator. He told me it was a bad idea, but whatever.
A year later over dinner he tells me he understands now, and is glad I made a choice that has brought me happiness :)
over time the bed caps are squished into the metal underneath. If you are obsessive like me, you want things even. You can contact Diamondback and they will send you spaces to put under the plastic.
those are front runner rails. I bought a pair of their universal rails and cut the down to size. They come with rubber bases that you can cut also. Whole install didn’t take long. Just remember to measure twice :)
