  1. Practical Truck for the Over Prepared Woman

I haven’t decided what I’m doing with the fenders yet. I quite like the aluminum fenders from Genright, but want to see what the wheels distance looks like once I’ve swapped out the current wheels and moved to 37s. As for why I did the liners. The aluminum liners provide nice inner tire tuck...
  2. Practical Truck for the Over Prepared Woman

Here is a picture of the Motobilt rocker panels. They are painted the same color as the Jeep to blend in. I’ll take a picture of the skid plates next time I roll under the truck. Also, just got my rock sliders and other parts back from the powder coating shop today with the new color...
  3. Practical Truck for the Over Prepared Woman

Right! I <3 it. The rectangular light bars perform great and offer a lower profile I'm sure, but I just don't like the look of them. Sometimes we have to make sacrifices for aesthetic :) These are crazy bright though, and I like that the light bar can be added to or separated when I inevitably...
  4. Practical Truck for the Over Prepared Woman

The ATS is solid. It’s an important part of the first experiment I tried. I was looking to reduce some of the steering “float” from bigger tires. I definitely went a little too far and the ATS helped save me from myself. This is my first “big” wheeled truck. Family, friends, and research...
  5. Practical Truck for the Over Prepared Woman

Three lessons learned from these modifications: 1: Don’t use a power ratchet at high speed to get the body bolts off. It seems like the speed can break the inserts up. I found that if it starts spinning, you can pull on the bolt from the washer while ratcheting and this helps. Also tried...
  6. Practical Truck for the Over Prepared Woman

My first modifications were of course a bumper and rock bars, because I was pretty sure that’s what you are supposed to do :)
  7. Practical Truck for the Over Prepared Woman

    Starting from the beginning:
  8. Practical Truck for the Over Prepared Woman

The first year of this build, was done out of my apartment. Fortunately, I now have a garage and things are much easier to work on. I'm looking forward to tackling more big projects! Hopefully some of the lessons learned will help others, this community has certainly been super helpful to me so...
  9. SOLVED: Broke my Gladiator by drilling into wires

I’m with Gatorized on this one. CAN is sensitive, but it’s not black magic. I assume you have the new harness on order, so that is a good backup plan. Any solid OBDII tool will help you dig deeper. Sounds like you are using logic, keep it up. If the steering wheel control module is out, then...
  10. SOLVED: Broke my Gladiator by drilling into wires

I invested in a battery powered soldering iron and heat gun last year so I have no excuse not to do clean wiring. Well worth the investment.
  11. SOLVED: Broke my Gladiator by drilling into wires

Have you tried soldering the wires? I’ve done a bit of work with the CAN bus wires in my gladiator and other applications. A nice clean solder joint will do way more for you than press fit connections.
  12. Another pic request! Show me your 20’s

The 20s do well off-road :) I am probably going to be swapping these soon though, I think I like the look of the 17s better.
  13. Rock Rails Thread

So I made the leap of faith to buy the Shrockworks sliders to fit along side my Artec aluminum skid plate. There is only one cut that needs to be made to make it fit. They are indeed heavy. I used a floor Jack to get them in place for the test fit :) The piece that needed to be cut was at...
  14. Diamondback HD

That was the built right version. It’s a good product. I ended up swapping it for the motobilt version though. The built right is strong enough to mount a high lift Jack to, and it’s decently light weight. I definitely recommend it. I swapped for the motobilt because it was mounted behind the...

  17. What tires look aggressive but don’t ride much worse.

The Maxxis Razr tires are really solid. I can't hear them inside and they grip really well on the trail. They have handled all the conditions the road and off-road has thrown at me this year :)

  20. Who do you let DRIVE your Gladiator?

My husband and mom have both driven it twice. If they continue to be nice to me, I’ll let them drive it a couple more times each :)
