Just bought the Metalcloak rear sway bar reinforcement brackets the other day after reading some of the discussions on them here and have a question for those that have them...
Will it be easier to install them if I take the wheel off on the side I'm working on, supporting the axle with a...
I'm curious, because we your a small camper with our Gladiator, where you read that those brackets are a good idea for towing?
I'm probably going to go ahead and get them regardless, but it'd be nice to know the why...
I rather like that one over the ARB, only because it has a "soft" case that will fit nicely in the toolbox I bought for the emergency kit, keeping everything nice and contained.
Sounds like there's an Amazon order in my future
Then I need to figure out how to, if needed (hopefully not!), re-seat the bead on Method bead-grips...
Although, that's why I'm also going to keep my spare and take along a jack that can be used on soft ground (not the scissor jack)
I'm putting together a combination Jeep / camper toolkit so I can get myself out of some jams. One of the items I'm thinking of putting in is a tire-plug kit, so that if either while off-roading or hauling the camper, I get a flat (say, a nail or screw or such through the tread) Potentially I...
I've been looking at various hoists (still haven't found one I LIKE) and I've constantly wondered why none of the hoists take advantage of the bolt holes for holding the top to the Jeep as some sort of "support" point.
Either a bar with "pins" that line up with the holes, or something like...
So the mount points on my bumper have "sharp" corners that would likely demolish a soft shackle fairly quickly.
I was going to run by a local off road shop (the place that did my bumper,) but they're closed on the weekends, so...
The good news is, took a pair of pliers out to the Jeep this...
Bought some d-rings to leave on my front bumper (yes, I like the look,) but putting a new hook on the winch line I noticed the pin was starting to rust and I could NOT unscrew the pin by hand (going to try tools today.)
I figure my first mistake was buying Harbor Freight D-Rings and my second...
When you hate money, but love fun, what do you do?
You buy a Jeep and this:
Bought this just over a year ago, since then I've added an optic to it. Still haven't stretched her legs out beyond 100yds, longest I've got available is 200yds...
So it's sounding like I'm OK, I could maybe toss in the 1/2" spacer to get a bit more travel back, but I'm not planning to run the Baja 1000 (or any ORV trails) at any sort of speed, and so far, the speed bump at work is the only place I've noticed it...
Noticed yesterday leaving work and going over a speed bump that it seemed like my front end might've hit the bump stop. I went over the speed bump slow, around 5ish MPH, and when the front wheels came off the bump (and it's one of those narrow, steep on both sides, maybe 5-6" high sort,) there...
Got around to installing one of the two FreedomCoast fork carriers for mine and the wifes' bikes on my 813 Molle panel. Kinda wish my bike wasn't as LONG as it is, so I could close the tailgate all the way and carry the bikes this way when we've got the camper hitched up...
@willys 41 I think I see my mistake now. I was thinking the quick-release bracket that holds the extinguisher mounted directly to (somehow) one of the pillars or roll bar of the Jeep, I didn't realize the quick-release attaches to a bracket that THEN attaches to the pillar / roll bar.
Thank you!
Looking to add a fire extinguisher to my cabin as a "just in case" item, both for myself and others. Where have you mounted yours and how did you mount it?
I like the look and style of this bracket: H3R Performance ProLock Flat Surface Brackets but where (and how) would it get mounted?
I've...
And this shows how little I understand suspension ;)
So what we tow is a nuCamp T@B 400 Boondock camper, think a "maxi" teardrop, roughly 3200lbs on the trailer axle when I took it (loaded) through a CAT scale a year back.
We don't have any *problems* as such towing, we don't have a weight...
Lets get some of the details out of the way, first, then the question:
I do not intend to lift the Jeep
I'm not looking to rock crawl
I'd like to improve the trailer-towing a bit, not sure if that's possible. I *KNOW* I can't increase my payload, short of trading in the Gladiator for a regular...
So today's follow up!
Took the truck back to where I bought the wheels and tires to check the balance and....
The wheel in question was just a bit out of balance! They balanced it and we took it over the railroad tracks that were giving me first and the was no "bouncies" bring what one would...
Well, I *do* have wheels / tires that are heavier than the factory shipped it with, so, this could be a possibility, although in that case I'd kind of expect all four to do something similar, depending on the situation...
