Considering I'm running with an empty bed right now?
Yeah, could be a lack of weight and road, which is why this weekend the wife's Wrangler is going to be taken over the same spot. If it does something similar, or if it FEELS like the road through there is a bit "bouncy" then...
Maybe I'll...
So the previous tires (factory stock on stock rims) I found out about the "hop" when I took the Jeep to have the tire balance checked (*I* thought I'd lost a wheel weight at the time)
The new wheels are also on different rims, hopefully I haven't already crapped up a shiny new Method rim :(
I...
New wheels and tires were put on last month and everything's been good, until this week.
Twice now, driving over some railroad tracks that cross the road on an angle, it seems the right rear wheel starts "vibrating," until I ease off the gas for a few moments. Then, everything's back to normal...
You try to raise them to make GOOD decisions and then your spouse decides a Gladiator isn't for her and buys a Wrangler instead...
Where did I go wrong? :CWL:
This thread: Can you use factory lug nuts with Method wheels got me wondering about the reverse. I recently had a set of Method 705s put on my Gladiator, but seeing as it's never been out from under the truck, I left the spare alone.
So, can I use the spline-drive lugs that are holding my...
So, not having the "Freedom Edition," I probably already have an aluminum bumper under the plastic.
Ah well, it was worth a shot.
Hmm, are there any companies out there that make a carbon fiber replacement bed? LoL
Currently running with the stock Sport S rear bumper and tow gear. The tow gear, from my research, is a LOT of the rear-end weight but I have to keep it so we can tow our camper.
So the question is, if I swap out the stock bumper for an aluminum bumper in the back, will I save any weight, and...
New shoes and insoles put on today!
BFG KO2s and Method MR705s in Titanium (which is definitely darker in person than on the Method site!)
Next weekend, heading out to Holly Oaks to get a little mud on the tires (probably not mud, it's been below freezing all this week)
sigh...
Cold weather on tap for us for the week (>32F highs,) but at most, 1" of snow, so no playing in the snow for my Glad this week...
Of course, it also means I don't need to shovel the drive and sidewalk, so, bonus I guess there. LoL
So I've seen getting new tires referred to as getting "new shoes" for ones Jeep, that would imply the wheels / rims are the feet of your Jeep...
So if you get new wheels, did your Jeep get "new feet"? LoL
So on Tuesday, plans were set in motion...
A set of Method MR705s (WHY did they discontinue the MR706s?) and a set of BFG KO2s.
Now, the waiting for the wheels to arrive at the shop (should be next week)
@sarguy1941 I especially liked reading in your comment about " Stiffer sidewall was...
I want to say I've seen discussions about the whole "sprung weight" vs "unsprung weight" devolve into near religious wars, when it comes to "does it count against payload" LoL
Thank you for the suggestion of the Maxxis tires, as well!
@Sweetums I'd love to go to the BFG KO2s, but I can't afford the weight difference, not if I want to stay within spitting distance of the payload / max GVWR of the Jeep when we've got the camper hanging off the back.
Hindsight being 20/20, if I'd known getting the Gladiator would lead to us...
Over the weekend, discovered it's time for some new tires on the Jeep. As we tow a camper in the summer with the Jeep, and between us, gas, tongue weight of the camper, plus stuff tossed in the bed, well, weight matters, so I had to rule out AT tires.
I'm planning to put on a set of the BFG...
🤮
I want to see that take a corner at normal speeds...
Because if the center of gravity were any higher, you could knock it over by breathing on it...
