Again, the factory halogen lights have a higher lumen high beam than low beam. I'm not trying to argue for or against it, but saying that it is illegal because of more light output from high beams is wrong, or they wouldn't be sold like that from the factory.
That's one heck of a Christmas list. We decided on a week long trip to the snow instead of presents this year. Probably focus on her JLU next Christmas and the JT the year after lol having 2 Jeeps to modify hurts the wallet.
LED bulb replacement manufacturers have gotten better at imitating the light pattern of halogen bulbs so there is less scatter effect from the reflector. That being said I still went with a full assembly replacement, because I want to make 100% sure I'm not hitting oncoming traffic when putting...
Running that much heavier of a tire than stock as well as going from max tow tires as well as 4 inches taller is going to lead to more revs to keep it moving.
With the way things are going with vehicles, probably until I'm convinced an electric version is solid. My daughter will be 16 when the all new vehicles sold must be electric mandate goes into effect. She will be able to chose if my wife's JLU or my JT gets upgraded first lol.
Even the factory halogens are rated 50% more lumens on high beam than low beam. Maybe you should tell Mopar their lights break regulations from the factory? I have found no law, regulation, or code saying high beams have to be the same output as low beams.
DOT approved and SAE certified. They sell a ton of different lights that advertise higher lumen output for high beams than low beams with DOT approvals.
If you have the factory auxiliary switches there is a fused wire in the passenger footwell you could hook it up to that I believe is directly to the battery.
They are 7" because that's what they already had made before the JL was released and it was quicker to market to make a bracket than completely redesign a headlight. They will be coming out with a 9 inch version at some point, but with delays due to covid who knows when that will be.
Yea, it seems like money would be better spent on a couple well focused spot lights to throw light a bit further down the trail. At least with my headlights this unfortunately would just over saturate the driving light area. I think you can get a couple Baja Designs LP6s for almost the same price.
I'll be looking at a version of this bumper when he releases the non winch version. Redsummitmachineworks.com has some great designs, but it's a small shop so design work can take a while.
I wish I had stuff in the mail. Trying to be responsible and not modify the truck heavily until the bank no longer owns it. Have a shopping cart full at redsummitmachineworks.com for when I'm ready though. That new rear bumper looks nice.
What do you guys think? My headlights put out about 20k lumens on high beams, so I was leaning towards Spots to get a little better range on lighting. I don't have a lot of experience with auxiliary lighting though so I figured I would ask. This is what my high beams look like on the road.
There are basically optional turn signals/DRLs in the Drifter series headlights. I didn't feel like they were worth the work of splicing, so I just plugged in the wiring for the headlights themselves. Maybe I'll wire them up at some point, but not planning on it.
If you are just looking for the...
