  1. Anyone Considering Purchasing During This Crazy Time?

I am a diesel holdout. I still intend to buy one when they are available, but my plans to tweak it are being modified, at least that is where I am right now. I am still going to get the Rubicon with all the factory options I want, but put off the wheels, tires and lift. I am not sure I really...
  2. Could coronavirus slow/stop diesel engine production

I don't know. This is from the Wall Street Journal On Line: Europe’s automotive supply chains are hitting the brakes even as China’s production shifts into higher gear. Fiat Chrysler Automobiles NV is stopping almost all production in Europe for the next two weeks and Volkswagen AG has shut...
  3. Could coronavirus slow/stop diesel engine production

I think is is pretty clear at this point that we may all have more to worry about with respect to COVID-19 than its impact on when we will get our diesel Gladiators. I hope that all on the forum weather the storm well. That said, FCA has closed its Italian factories for two weeks (at this...
  4. Drove a Diesel JL Today

I took my drive today in the Wrangler Ecodiesel. Let me start by saying my comments are purely my subjective opinions. Your mileage may vary. My last diesel was a Mercedes 1999 E300TD. My daily driver is a Ford Expedition EL. My Jeep is a 2006 Rubicon Unlimited (LJ). When I started the...
  5. Drove a Diesel JL Today

I am scheduled to go drive the diesel Wrangler tomorrow. If I don’t like it and end up getting the gasser Gladiator, I will be really torqued that I did not get the launch edition when I had the chance. With the economy going south, the silver lining of waiting may be a better deal.
  6. 3.0D is $4000 on the Wrangler

If it comes to that, the question of what was or was not done is ultimately a question of fact for the jury to decide, not the dealer or FCA. If you don’t like their determination, you have the option of asking a jury whether you just bought the oil and filter or actually changed them.
  7. Could coronavirus slow/stop diesel engine production

I was thinking that if this virus puts the economy in the tank, fewer people will be ordering Gladiator Rubicon Ecodiesels, so maybe I will get a better deal on mine. If life give you lemons, look for a way to make lemonade. I can spray the engine with Lysol, just in case.
  8. Replacement for rear two hooks?

I can see times you would want it both ways, and you never want it to come off regardless, which is why I think a closed solution is the only solution. That is why I appreciate this thread and am watching it for a good solution. I am not an engineer, but wonder about how the OEM hooks will stand...
  9. Wait or not to wait for 2021 model

As a member of the “waiting for the diesel club” I would enjoy hearing your assessment. Are you saying that after driving the gasser, you decided it was good enough?
  10. Wait or not to wait for 2021 model

UConnect 5 may be a 2021 option if it is not a mid year addition.
  11. Do we know when the Ecodiesel will be released?

Good, so long as you tell the rest of us here when it changes. That way we don’t have to do that too. I am OK with being the second guy to get my order in.
  12. Aftermarket Tonneau Covers?

That is a lot better than I thought it was. I asked the company and they told me $2199. I guess the real life price is a lot less than list.
  13. Water fording depth - Update

On my 06 LJR, the differential vents were raised as others have said. I live in Houston, where we have flooding a lot, and so I really focus on fording capacity. I found that the transfer case vent was just sitting on top of the bell housing, so I raised it and the transmission vent to the top...
  14. Gladiator Crash - We Won! Impressions as the driver......

I am sorry for your loss and am glad you and your passengers are OK. I hope the dog had fun with him. I note that you have a tablet mount and other devices on the dash that apparently did not interfere with the air bag deployment and held up despite the crash. That is reassuring for those of us...
  15. Lift Kits for Diesels

I talked to Rock Krawler today and they said they would definitely have a different lift kit for the diesel. They are hoping to get the diesel JL any day and they will develop a kit for it and will do the same for the diesel JT when they can get their hands on one. So, we may not have a lift...
  16. Do we know when the Ecodiesel will be released?

It seems to me that the challenge of raising the GVWR on the JT diesel is no different than that faced by conventional pickup manufacturers who have the same basic truck in a half ton, three quarter ton and one ton version. They tweak components as needed to beef up the vehicle to handle the...
  17. Aftermarket Tonneau Covers?

Still admiring your tonneau and have that one on my short list. I hope you will consider a follow up review with your impressions after you have had it a while.
  18. Rubicon stock rims with 35x12.50R17LT

Not sure if it is better to wake up this thread or start a new one, but I appreciate the analytical, if divergent views expressed above and figure you guys may be following this thread and hence will see my questions. First of all, to stay relevant to the thread, I note that Mopar has a number...
  19. Aftermarket Tonneau Covers?

Thank you. This is very helpful. The flat vertical surface on the rails is very nice and addresses the concern I had about pushing something flush against the rail and securing it to the side of the bed. Looks very nice.
  20. Aftermarket Tonneau Covers?

I would like to see that picture too (The Truck Covers USA retractable cover in the open position.). My concern about this cover, which is otherwise awesome, is that the side rails stick in too far when it is open and it will make it difficult to secure a tall item in the back of the truck with...
