  1. So, how deep is the bed?

I am in Houston too. Have you confirmed it will be there? I have no free time any day of the regular show, but if I am willing to drop $250, I could go to the charity preview event benefitting Texas Children’s Hospital on Tuesday night.
  2. Where to put the ham stuff?

I currently run HF, v/uhf ham and v/uhf public service radios in my LJ. I assume the mounting challenge for control heads and one piece radios will be the same as the JL. I think the answer is one of the bars that goes across the top of the dash and allows you to mount things to it. On my LJ, I...
  3. Anybody collecting new parts already?

I appreciate the winch discussion. I had been wondering about winch sizing. I have the 9.5ti on my LJ and was thinking the JT might need a bit more umph. I suppose if people go with a bigger winch, they will need to check the rating of their bumper, winch mount and other components to ensure...
  4. 3rd brake light

I agree with the prior comment regarding checking the laws of your jurisdiction. In the case of the third brake light, that may not be easy. In Texas, the motor vehicle code section on brake lights does not require them. However, there is another section of law that says something to the effect...
  5. Cloth or Leather?

I agree with what you saw on the 360. That said, I have looked at a lot of videos shot at the reveal and they show cup holders on the floor behind the front console just like the cloth seat JL. In fact, it looked like they had floor mounted cupholders with the leather seats in some of the...
  6. Rear seat drink holders

If you look at the interior 360 photo rendering on the Jeep website that allows you to click for cloth or leather, it looks to me like only the leather version has the fold down armrest in the middle.
  7. So, how deep is the bed?

Amen. Tailgate length and other measurement are indicators, not measurements of the bed depth. Jeep went to great pains in their reveal video to talk about how easy it is to reach into the bed from the side. Almost like they were apologizing in advance for its being shallower than the...
  8. So, how deep is the bed?

Yes, it does. I have done the tailgate math and all of that and think 18ish is a reasonable estimate, but am amazed that nobody seems to have taken a tape to it to give us all the exact answer.
  9. So, how deep is the bed?

I posted this question on the specification thread and there was some discussion and speculation, but if there was a definitive answer, I missed it. Did anybody else at the reveal take a tape measure to the bed to see how deep it is? I sure would like to know what I can hide with a tonneau...
  10. What Tires and Why?

I have heard good things about the Nitto Ridge Grapplers, but will research the Falkens. I know nothing about them. I am thinking 35s with a 2 inch lift. I want the spare to fit under it and I want to fit in a parking garage. That makes it 77 inches with the hard top. If I find myself high...
  11. Cloth or Leather?

I have the Bartacts on my LJ and they fit and look nice. The MOLLE straps and rear pocket are really handy. That said, if you are in and out of the Jeep in a deluge rain like we get in Texas, the water coming off of you and your rain gear will seep through the seams and wet the seats underneath...
  12. Cloth or Leather?

If you look at the JT on the Jeep website in the 360 interior view where you can rotate the view around in a circle, the cloth version does not appear to fold down. That does not mean it was not a prototype and the production ones are different. I also was introby the other color option for leather.
  13. Cloth or Leather?

One difference I have noticed, is that you get the fold down center armrest with cup holders on the rear seat with the leather, but not the cloth. On the JL, you also get a bit longer armrest on the doors and the stitching on the dash. I know that does not answer your question about which is...
  14. Open Recovery Hooks vs. Closed Shackles

I guess I am anal, but I never want anything to slip out, ever. It just adds risk. When you are winching or using your snatch block, there are too many other things to watch and worry about to add something else to the list. I am from a safety culture that says to eliminate every risk you can...
  15. Open Recovery Hooks vs. Closed Shackles

Am I the only one concerned about the open recovery hooks on the rear bumper of the Rubicon, not to mention the little hooks on the front? My LJ aftermarket bumpers have shackles. While I figure I will replace the OEM bumper in the front, the rear bumper looks otherwise OK and it would be nice...
  16. 2020 Jeep Gladiator Specifications Sheet & Feature Availability

I had the same reaction when I heard the guy touting how easy it is to reach in. I get the reasons why it is shallow and would not change it, but it would be nice if they fessed up and gave that spec. It is not like someone will not take a tape measure to it. Looks like an ice chest or fridge...
  17. 2020 Jeep Gladiator Specifications Sheet & Feature Availability

I am having trouble interpreting some of the numbers on the spec sheet. Does one of them tell us the depth of the bed... in other words, the distance between the bottom of the bed and the top of the sides? Trying to figure how tall of an item I can put in the bed and still cover it with a...
