I did the same thing with the D-rings. Put them on every location where there was a screw. Trying to figure out how to do it on the tailgate too. I found removing one of the Torx bolts from the tailgate was useful in clearing out the bedliner from my holes rather than using a tap. Just that and...
Looks like they have straps that is comes with designed to properly hold the top, then there's also the electronics. You could probably do it for less, but not sure how you'd motorize it. If that's not an issue, then maybe you can do it way cheaper.
Would definitely like more info on this set up! Looks awesome and something I could tackle. Can't justify spending the $$ on the Decked system. I like the bed rails too.
So I searched many threads here about clearing out the factory spray-in bedliner from the threaded M6 holes where the Rail Trail system goes so I could install D rings along the bed. I had almost purchased an M6 tap when I thought maybe I could use an M6 bolt already installed elsewhere on the...
There are conditions when the auto stop/start doesn't work. For example, if you have the climate control on Auto, and it hasn't reached the temperature you set, the engine won't shut off as expected. If you just have the AC or heat on the non-auto mode, the auto s/s should work fine. The manual...
Nice! Did they still have the white Sport S in the building? The one maxed out with a lift, tires, etc.? I had to go to Redlands from SD to get mine. Did the one way car rental and it worked out great. See ya around.
Based on my research your looking at $1000 for a rack and $1,000 for a tent, minimum, but more like double that if you want something better. If you want a hard shell RTT they're starting around $2,000. I was thinking RTT too, but as another guy suggested, the tent trailer may be the way to go...
I'm looking forward to some casual trail runs or desert trips. Just picked up the Jeep and it's stock but I'm happy to try out most anything. Anza Borrego is good for me and maybe a bit further north.
And that's saying something in NV! Seems the only trick for the isolator is where to route the one wire to something that's hot when the key its on. But that seems manageable. Other than that, its a matter of running cables between the solenoid and batteries, and a ground.
That's what I figured. I'll have to take a look underneath with your pics and see if I can figure it out. Have you wired it all up and its it working as expected? Thanks for the help.
nice work. Yeah it’s a little hard to tell from photos but I’ll have to get under mine to compare. I saw that near the rear of the frame on that side there are two threaded holes that look like they might be good for holding a battery box. Is that what you used? Did you attach the box to the...
You've got me interested in the battery box behind the rear wheel. My VW Vanagon had a second battery that was the "house battery" and connected to the starter batter wired in such a way to charge while driving using a relay. I could draw it down and never worry about draining the starter...
Thanks, yeah me too! I've gotten more compliments and offers to buy her than I can count. So many people want to check her out and I've heard many stories from people who have had a VW bus. Sadly it's time for Molly to go. I have found a great VW family to buy her though. 13 years of great...
What kind of accessory hardware can you add to these? I like the DIY option but I don't know how universal the hardware is that attaches to this type of channel vs. some of the other DIY channel people are using vs. the Trail Rail system. I would like to have a lot of options for accessory...
Few things uglier than my Vanagon but I fell in love with her. They can be made to look better, just like the Gladiator. Eh, to each his or her own. For me, form follows function, but I like the look of both!
