As a Brit, we get some outstanding diesels, the VW/ Audi/ Posche 3.0 V6 Tdi is a belter and in my SQ5 puts out 313bhp and 650Nm (480lb/ft) and gives me 60 in 5.5 secs. Mines currently on 110k and 200k isn't uncommon without issue. They're not all bad!
Security was my concern, so I had a half height canopy made locally. I have posted more info here: (1) Half height canopy | Jeep Gladiator (JT) News, Forum, Community - JeepGladiatorForum.com
I have sneaked a handful of the build photos into other posts I think, but here they are. Very happy to date and just under 12 months in, only the following observations.
One hinge broke (replaced).
The canopy to tailgate seal is not totally effective.
The ARB Esperance 2 tent is great and...
Couldn't be simpler having done it myself. Just identify which Aux button you wish to use and then run an electrical cable from the relevant pre-installed cable under the bonnet (by battery) to the positive of both lights, then just ground the negative of each light.
The aux cables have relays...
I'm running the aliexpress one and all's good. It comes with the reinforcing brackets to stop the pipework under the jubilee clips from collapsing. It's also 113 degrees+ here and no fading of the plastics in 12 months.
If I'm honest, it's to get the air intake out of the sand and dust on the...
Back in 2002 I was working in the UK's Defence Procurement Agency as an enthusiastic Captain and we started then the replacement for the Landrover Defender Wolf (or TUM) as it was known. It was painfully obvious then with Iraq/ AFG going on that we needed greater carrying capacity and...
I guess this really is direct competition (rather than the larger trucks)?
I love Sir Jim's intent, but the Grenadier fails for me, I'm not a fan of the styling, the interior or the price! The video makes a good point about the spare tyre on the QM and the bed sides and tailgate seem really...
I had one of these, fits in the bed (even the 2 seater) with no issues. Martini GTX Sit-In Modular Kayak - Ships from USA - Point 65 Sweden – Point 65 Kayaks US
I really didn't like my JTR Fox shocks and found them far too soft. Looking for a cost effective improvement, I ended up with the Ironman Foam Cell Pro (try Ironman 4x4 America | Off-Road Parts & Accessories ). This combined with a 1.5 level in the front and a .75 in the rear has got me a Jeep...
This thread refers to 'overdrive' gears in a couple of posts and I'm not convinced they are, we are just making excuses for an engine with low torque...do JTD owners refer to 7th or 8th as overdrive gears?
Being a Brit and having owned several British '60s and 70s cars with actual overdrives...
"Then in the Spring of 2023, he contends a gnat hit the windshield and caused a chip to develop which was filled in by an auto glass repair company."
Was it wearing a helmet?
I was very disillusioned with my Rubicon 'pogo-edition' shocks and looked long and hard for a cost-effective alternative out here in the Middle East. In the end I went with the Ironman Foam Cell Pro for $730 for all 4 and fitted them myself.
The shocks are not well known but they are stocked...
The JL and JT are still new, the mixing of aluminium and steel are never happy bedfellows, show me a Landrover Defender or old Series that doesn't have it somewhere.
10 years' time, we'll all have bubbles. That said, none yet!
Delighted with my ARB Esperance 2. Light at 57kg, spacious for 2 and a double sleeping bag and 2 pillows can be stored inside. Also comes with LEDs inside and underneath.
It's also a grey shell to match my JTR.
