Nice idea but the JTR will be heavy enough and I think I'd be putting too much weight so far after the rear axle. I might also worry about security in some of the 'light-fingered' parts of the drive home!
I know lots are/ have installed kitchens or pull-out drawers and I'm hoping someone may have found a solution for the question "how can I secure this without drilling holes the bed floor"....
I have the 4 ties down loops and no trail rail system. This is for long distance overlanding and I...
I will be recording/ reporting it somehow, not yet sure of the best medium. In outline it'll be SW across Saudi and then up the W coast, Jordan, Israel, ferry to Turkey, Turkey, Greece, Albania, Montenegro, Serbia, Croatia, Austria and then undecided, If I have run out of time it'll be a...
I have been putting my JTR together for the drive home to the UK from Qatar, where I'm currently working. Simplicity and budget are key.
I'm running a small spacer lift and BFG 35x12.5, I have had a bespoke aluminium half height canopy made to keep the bed secure and the RTT at roof height...
Aye, suppose I could have included a description. An 'art' installation in the north of Qatar, 'sea of shadows' I think. each one is 5m high and 10m across.
I'm a Brit based in Qatar. It cost approx $1600 and while fittings (gas rams, hinges, lights etc) are Chinese standard, the welding and fabrication is 1st rate. Try US based Nuthouse industries for something similar or find a friendly fabricator. All up it weighs in at 65kg - got to love...
I run a hard shell on a half height rack. It has definitely made the rolly polly Rubicon moreso and blunted slightly the dynamics. MPG hasn't dropped and I've averaged 20.92 (UK MPG) over the last 6 months. I rarely go over 75 and it's pretty flat here but I do do a lot of urban and off road.
Left mine running over night and a second occasion of about 2 hrs! I wish the Jeep would let me know I've left it running or shut off after a period of time.
I have a JTR on 35" with a 1.5 level, canopy, tent, bumper etc. and granted my BFG KOs are small 35s, but they're also light. Tank to tank over the last 6 months I have averaged 20.22mpg and while I sit on the motorways at 65-70, the jeep also sees a good amount of off-road and dunes.
I see...
Mine over the last 6 months. JTR AT, 35" with a levelling kit. I'm pretty happy with the economy but the place is pretty flat, I don't thrash it and do tend to sit at 65-70 as I'm not in a rush! It does get regularly bashed around the sand so overall MPG is good.
I had not aired down before driving in the sand here in Qatar and initially I was nervous about valve removal. Now it's second nature, whipping the valve out and waiting for the escaping air to 'whistle' gets me within 2 psi of where I want to be.
