Thanks for the replies. It is strange and really does sound like something is slipping but am ok if others have the same noise and it isn’t actually a worn out or loose belt.
I towed my friends Defender 90 from Virginia to Philadelphia today. It did great. The D90 was about 3800 lb and the trailer another 2200 lb. Got an average of 12.1 mpg on the trip.
Nice, lets see some pictures of the rig in tow. I have a slightly smaller travel trailer and towed it in the Shenandoah mountains a couple weeks ago. Here is mine.
I am running 35s on my Rubicon as well but did adjust the speedo and while I did notice a slight difference from stock it isn’t much. I have towed my 4500 lb travel trailer without issue. My prior tow vehicle was a 5.7L Hemi Grand Cherokee and for sure it did better on hills but the Gladiator...
Lets see some pictures of your hoist setup that works for your Gladiator. My current setup I used on my JKU won't work due to the hard top now being in the center of the Jeep instead of the rear. My hoist would need to be right where my garage door opener is. I guess I need a bigger garage?
Another thing to note is that you can put 35s on the Rubicon stock without a lift and it doesn’t appear to rub anywhere even disconnected. I am towing a 4500lb travel trailer with 35s and a Rubicon and it does well. It quite like my Grand Cherokee 5.7 but still impressive for a big truck, big...
Then I can tell you that with the stock tires or upgrading to 35s you can tow without an issue with either a Rubicon or a Max Tow Sport. I think the Rubicon is worth it if you are going to take it offroad and use the lockers and sway bar disconnects. If not, the Sport max tow is your best bet.
May help to provide some detail on what you are trying to do with the Gladiator and we may be able to help more. What specifically are you looking for? Off road capabilities? If so what kind of trails? Towing capabilities? If so what size trailer? On road driving manners? What are you...
Yes, here is a picture of the factory brake controller. It is in the lighter plug location.

Anyone else have a squeal when starting? I think it may be the power steering pump as I hear it in parking garages when turning too. Just a quick squeal when I start it cold then a small whine when turning.
Aftermarket seems better than stock as you lose the charge port in the dash with the factory option. Check out the Curt online. Similar look but you can mount anywhere you want and keep the charge port.
