  1. NorCal Gladiator Folk?

Welp, it turns out it isn't my time to get behind the wheel of a 2020 JT, however, circumstances have lead me and my SO to getting a fairly kitted out 2002 TJ instead! For the forseeable future, this is what we'll be using for our second vehicle and offroad toy, but who knows? We have it in the...
  2. Slide-in camper options?

I looked at their site, and they are listing specific models for their 5 foot version, the JT isn't even listed on if they support it or not.
  3. Slide-in camper options?

What's the weight capacity for the sleeping area, can you get to it just by climbing in through the door in the back, and is it something that could be easily removable (with a hoist or something) so the truck can be used as a daily driver between trips? Some shots of the interior would be...
  4. Slide-in camper options?

Hey there, just wondering if anyone's come across any slide-in camper options, and if so, are they all pop-up types, or are there some hard shells out there as well? I do know that they exist for mid-sized pickups, despite the fact most of the market is aimed at full sized models, though most of...
  5. SF Bay Area - Any JT Sightings?

Sting grey or granite rubicon sighted at the westbound offramp at I-80 and Douglas in Roseville.
  6. SF Bay Area - Any JT Sightings?

If you're willing to travel east to the sierras, there are an abundance of fireroads and OHV trails making a spiderweb of lesser traveled paths that at minimum cover Plumas, Nevada and Placer counties. I'd wait for the current global medical issue to pass before trying them though, unless you...
  7. Elana's Progress

Still dealing with financial issues, it's at the top of my list after finding new housing, assuming we don't decide to go with a JLU instead (still leaning twards the JT to be able to tow a larger travel trailer).
  8. Upgrade drivetrain or suspension first?

I've been made aware of a type of adjustable, telescopic driveshaft that is meant to freely extend and retract as the axles move up and down with the suspension. I'm not sure what the quality of these are though. Edit: here's a portion of such a driveshaft.
  9. All differences between Rubicon and Sport with Max Tow?

I feel these quotes from page 6 sum things up nicely:
  10. All differences between Rubicon and Sport with Max Tow?

Thankyou for reminding me about the transfer case, that might be one of the primary reasons to consider the rubicon despite the modifications I have in mind.
  11. All differences between Rubicon and Sport with Max Tow?

I have yet to have a vehicle equipped with LED lights that weren't standard, what's more, all of the previous offroad vehicles I, or my family have had, including rentals, were either halogen or even incandescent bulbs, as such I personally don't actually mind having halogens, but I also haven't...
  12. All differences between Rubicon and Sport with Max Tow?

I'm curious how you were able to get the price that low. When I go through the build site for both trims, minus the active safety group and the adaptive cruse control, the Sport S comes out to an MSRP of $47,350, with the Rubicon coming to $57,560. That's the dual top group, tan interior...
  13. All differences between Rubicon and Sport with Max Tow?

Thanks for bringing things back on topic. I personally think of the Rubicon trim's status and think "neat, do you ever leave the pavement?". Around where I am it's actually quite common to see stock 4x4s, be it jeeps or other manufacturers, that show evidence of recent offroading (mud splatter)...
  14. Upgrade drivetrain or suspension first?

Pretty much what the topic says, if I were planning on upgrading from the stock axles and driveshafts, and also planned on aftermarket suspension, but had to do said upgrades in stages, what should be done first? In my own head I have arguments for either, and I'm not sure which is more valid...
  15. Wide vs Narrow Track Axles

Not sure if it's been stated already but one of the benefits of wider axles is that it will make the vehicle harder to roll onto it's side, however if the axles get too wide they can cause clearance issues, both for on and offroad use.
  16. All differences between Rubicon and Sport with Max Tow?

Correction, you and ACAD_Cowboy made it specifically about the 40s. I stated in the opening post that 40's are part of what I'm aiming for, as part of the question on which direction (trim level) to go with. You turned it into a debate by insisting I'm fundamentally wrong for wanting to...
  17. All differences between Rubicon and Sport with Max Tow?

EVO's build, mentioned in that thread by yourself and steffen707, is what gave me the impression that such a build isn't unreasonable. All of the photos I've seen of it look like it could still haul a respectable amount if the overlanding rack is ommited, and could probably still tow a...
  18. All differences between Rubicon and Sport with Max Tow?

    1. Define "modern", give me a date range. Videos, regardless of their source, can be informative, especially when trying to answer specific questions. I have always seen a winch as a recovery tool, not something to be used on the fly like diff locks. If they can do it stock without issue, how...
  19. All differences between Rubicon and Sport with Max Tow?

From the moment I mentioned that the truck would not "just be a toy" on page 5, I've been ridiculed for it because my multi-purpose role for the vehicle doesn't fit neatly inside the box you guys have made for it, despite the whole point of the gladiator is versatility capable of multiple tasks...
