At around 20,000 miles the truck developed a small oil leak that appeared beneath. Took in to tue dealer and was told the leak was coming from above near the oil filter. I believe a gasket was replaced and all was well for a short time. At 23,000 miles the same oil leak developed again. After Jeep dealer had the truck for 5 days without contact, I called and was told the engine was being replaced due to a defect in the casting of the block. This seemed extreme to me until I started searching in engine replacements on the Gladiator.
I am very concerned about the impact to warranty and impact to re-sell with such a major replacement so early in the life of the truck.
I do not expect to get my truck back for another 2 weeks at least and was wondering how this has been handled in other cases? It seems to be a real problem as I see a number of trucks on this forum have had engines replaced for a number of reasons.
Jeep did not hesitate to replace the engine. They have had the vehicle for a little over two weeks and have not yet started on the repair.
Any advice greatly appreciated!
