At around 20,000 miles the truck developed a small oil leak that appeared beneath. Took in to tue dealer and was told the leak was coming from above near the oil filter. I believe a gasket was replaced and all was well for a short time. At 23,000 miles the same oil leak developed again. After Jeep dealer had the truck for 5 days without contact, I called and was told the engine was being replaced due to a defect in the casting of the block. This seemed extreme to me until I started searching in engine replacements on the Gladiator.

I am very concerned about the impact to warranty and impact to re-sell with such a major replacement so early in the life of the truck.

I do not expect to get my truck back for another 2 weeks at least and was wondering how this has been handled in other cases? It seems to be a real problem as I see a number of trucks on this forum have had engines replaced for a number of reasons.

Jeep did not hesitate to replace the engine. They have had the vehicle for a little over two weeks and have not yet started on the repair.

Any advice greatly appreciated!

Quick update. I have my Gladiator Mojave back now after a total of 6 weeks with a new engine. All is well so far. I also contacted Moper Customer Service and indicated my concerns about getting a new engine so early in the life of the vehicle. After about two weeks they responded with a phone call and offered to double my warranty to 6 years/75,000 miles. While replacing a relatively new engine is traumatic, I could not be happier with the Dealership (Troncalli Jeep in Cumming, GA) and overall with Jeep's agreement to extend the warranty. I plan on keeping this Jeep for some time and have started looking at some mods on the Gladiator Forum. Very pleased. Hope this helps someone that has to deal with this in the future.

Glad it worked out for you.

From my perspective the vehicle wasn't wrecked so I can't imagine replacing the engine will devalue anything.

Now you just have an engine with 23k less miles on it.
