Last time we talked about road trips and found that everyone pays great attention to car maintenance, and pre-trip checks are an essential part of the process (checking tire pressure, rims, car battery, changing oil, etc.). In everyday regular life, what vehicle conditions do you guys care about most, for safety reasons or personal hygiene needs?

Let's share how much monthly vehicle maintenance do you actually do.

Please select the maintenance tasks you have already completed or are sure you can complete this month. (This is a multiple-choice poll)

After voting, please leave a comment below:
How many items did you complete in total? What do you think is the most important? Share your experiences and little skills in thos thread.

Winner Pick Up:
We will pick up one winner on 29th Jan. The user with the most likes in the comments section is winner!

Prize: A set of 3W car mat

I completed 4 tasks in total.
Tires pressure I check daily with a handheld deflator style gauge mainly because of temperature and tire psi swings from that.
Being in the northeast washer fluid is a weekly routine as the wintry weather makes it necessary . most important to me is
Door sills and frames is a few times a week once again living in the northeast I damp towel sills and frames and seals followed with a spray and wipe down with a speed wax.
Floor mats obviously can get quite messy quickly with salt/brine/snow etc. so that is a weekly pull them up and dump the salt particles off and wipe down.
One tip I found that greatly helps on the build up of the salty or even muddy buildup on the mats is I keep a handful of microfiber or shop towels in both our jeeps and lay out one or two on top of the mats in the front footwells. Not huge towels that get bunched up or anything, but the towels soak up the muddy or snowy salty water without excess buildup drying on the actual mats making cleanup easier and this works even with armorlite flooring. Change them out once a week during nasty weather wash dry and put clean ones in back floor until needed.

check periodically airfilter, oil level and wiperfluid...
Daily - tire preassure and walk around the vehicle and see if anything is loose or hanging off or rodents got into anything
Check torque on wheels every other month and suspension as well as on my soft topper once or twice a year

Retired. Finally !!
Um, this is gonna reek of Thurston Howell the Third attitude, but the only thing I do on that list is check tire pressure. None of those other conditions apply. But if the pressure needs adjusting I do tell my wife, "Lovey, the rear tire is 4 pounds low. How droll. You can't get tires to hold their pressure any more, they want constant attention. It's maddening, my love, simply maddening. Hand me my gloves, would you, dear ? This valve cap is disgusting with dust and whatnot.".

Now, if you don't know who Thurston Howell III is, I probably just blew your mind.... but you're safe. The above was a joke....

Completed 4. Most important for me was washer fluid refill due to road salt spray season.

At work. I'm responsible for vehicle maintenance on a small fleet of pick up trucks. Every Monday I go through a check list on each truck. When I'm going through the trucks, I include mine too.

I just bought mine Last week! But with these freezing cold temps we've had here in TN, I've been checking my tire pressure, especially with the recent ice and snow.

i keep my cars looking factory new. But i use them, mine has been covered in mud, sand, etc. Floor mats had an inch of sand in them. But if you looked you'd think it's never been off the pavement. LOL takes hours to detail at that level, but once done just some upkeep till next off road event.

I'm complete overkill on fluid changes. Just so easy to do to keep it all fresh.
1st oil change @ 500 miles (oil and filter)
2nd oil change @ 2000 miles (oil only) (just did this, im now at 2300 miles)
3rd oil change @ 3000 miles (oil and filter)
then...
Oil changes at 3k. Diff fluids changed every 10k, trans fluid 30k, coolant 30k. Brake fluid 30k, etc.

Recouping from the holidays, all i have been able to do is rotate my tires, review some free stuff from Amazon Vines program, work and prep for a surgery. Then 3 months of recovery and healing. I think ill just try to not gain weight :whew:

I did book the annual Easter camping week in Buellton, CA so there's that going for us. Cheers to a happy 2026 for every one.

Haven't used washer fluid in a while - TOO COLD to need it. It was full in early December and holds a LOT of fluid..............
I did check all other fluids, though.
Wash? Not at 0 degrees.
When there's a lot of build-up on the mats, I do take out a gallon of hot water, pour on the mats to wash out the salt and sand and then pull the drain plugs.
This isn't as bad as things usually get! I was down and out with 8 trips to hospitals and clinics, 3 surgeries and so on, so it wasn't driven much when it was snowy. The snow just shut off, and so has the salt.

Changed my batteries because I was getting weird issues. Dang that AUX battery is hard to get at! All good now! 2020 on a 36 month battery and squeezed nearly 72 months off those... I consider myself lucky!
