I have a 2020 Jeep Gladiator. I learned when I bought my bed cover that there were slight differences between the 1st gen (prior to March 2020), and 2nd gen (after March 2020). This had to do with the type of rivnut installed in the backet behind the passenger compartment, at the "front" of the bed area.

Anyone know of other differences between the 2 gens? Also, any major differences between 2020 and 2021 years?

I doubt different rivets is sufficient to deem the 2021 a “2nd generation.”

Well, that's why I'm asking if anyone knows any other changes to cause the 1st/2nd gen callouts?

Different generations? Unlikely.
Small changes from year to year, most probable.
The threaded-vs-unthreaded holes, differences in option packages, the availability of Selec-Trac and Eco-Diesel doesn’t qualify as a generational change.

Probably due to changes in the forward bulkhead attachment holes.
My Truxedo tonneau cover had an addendum and a few extra bits for Gladiators manufactured after July 2020 to compensate for the non-threaded holes.

Has anyone been able to shed more light on if Jeep OEM Gen 1 soft Trifold bed cover can be installed in a later year (after March 2020) Gladiator that uses the Gen 2? I have a '23 and just bought a used Jeep OEM soft trifold that, as it turns out, is. Gen 1 (before March 2020). Ugh....Really hoping I can still use this cover.

If it helps at all, the Gen 1 cover is PN 82215616 and the Gen 2 PN is 82216371AB.

Thank you.

Have you set the cover in place and looked at it? The main difference is the attachment to the bed in the two front corners. The first year JT came with a rivnut already installed there to attach the cover. The major change was to stop installing the rivnut and leaving a hole there. The hardware included with the cover was changed.

Did you get all the hardware for the cover you bought? There are also the pieces that go in back to hold the cover down.

Yes, thank you. Got the hardware and bolts. Looks like I verified as well, that it's the Rivnuts that are different. From another thread, I'm getting nuts and lock washers to use in place of them. I"m told it works perfectly...just have to get your hand down between bed and cab! Thanks again for your reply!

I think in sequence change or revision is better wording than "generation". To most people and especially when it comes to vehicles, "generation" usually means a whole top to bottom redesign change.
