functionally, it's no better or worse.
I'd say it's better. Hitting a rut going 60mph in the desert, I prefer the better grip that doesn't slip when clenching on those thumbpads. The perforations help a ton when hot, sweaty, and butt puckering.

Mayan Gold
They almost missed the mark on that one if that's the case - Mayan gold isn't very orange as far as a thread color - it's got more of a gold look.
All one has to do is go to my wife's quilting thread colors LOL.

But if you look up the color in PAINT, it's orange.

But all of that nit-picking aside, it can be either orangish/gold or "silver".

Checked on the Rubicon X and it can come with either the Red, Silver or Mayan Gold stitching steering wheel
I think TA is on crack. There aren't 3 stitch colors in Rubi Xs.

Mayan gold would be 392. Weird.
"it depends" - it's fairly orange in paint colors, more "gold" in thread colors.
It's defined as having amber and bronze to it.

You have your tastes and likes, others would say otherwise. But in performance car after-market wheels, you don't have that situation.

Looked up a 2024 Mojave X and it only lists one steering wheel 7TH321U5AA which seems to be the orange stitched one.

Seems they made a running change with 2025.

Maybe, but if anybody was to file a warranty claim for a "misbuild", that is what would pull up for the dealership by those 2025 VIN's

Dude the point is, Jeep made a change mid 2025 production....tossed the Mojave wheel they used for 5.5 years, and threw a base Sport wheel on the truck. Facts. How the hell are we arguing about this fact? Earlier you said they 'look the same' when they are clearly different.

Wow, so far it's all I've looked at - the dash and seat stitching is red, but not the steering wheel.

Rubi wheel is the same physically as all the others. Just used to have colored stitching. Mid 2025 it appears they dropped the red. Plenty of 2025 have red stitching.

Mojave came with the 392 wheel for 5.5 years but with orange versus gold stitching. Jeep removed it mid 2025. The end.

Base Sport? Looks like Rubicon to me.
Could be they are using the same wheel on them now.

Mojave isn't the only thing you hit ruts in and need a good grip on the wheel. Ever been going through rocks and mud or winter ruts and had the thing try to rip the wheel out of your hand.

So for me - it's no biggy. To some it will be, but it's truly more styling than anything.
Now if they took away the hood and Mojave suspension and beefed up axles, that's a different animal.

The shifter boots on the center console for the transmission and transfer case are silver stitched also instead of red on that Rubicon.

Looking more and more they are just throwing in whatever they have

that's the one piece I don't want....the heavy steel hood! lol ... I'd prob swap for a Rubi hood if the chance came.
I understand that - but they had to do something to make it look unique and special LOL

I'm not sure why they went with steel hoods on any of them. Simply stamp the shape and features they want on the aluminum.
Last thing you need is more weight up there.

It was a parts bin hood.... Wrangler 392. Weight not a problem on that since it's so powerful. It's functional on the 392 .....it's too bad they didn't make it functional on the Mojave.

I've been seeing a real mix - red on the dash and seats, but maybe not on other parts.
I see that on the Rubicon and Mojave - a mix of colors instead of a steady theme on all of the stitched parts.

I will have to take a look at the other JTs and JL/JLUs on the lot this weekend as I'm really curious now.
I don't really care about the steering wheel - and my wife would take out all of the orange stitching if she could (trust me - she's an award winning quilter and knows colors) I'm fine with it - but that green - barf - but there's no choice if you want that level of that JT. You are stuck with that green. They need to kick that guys ass out of FCA and back to cleaning up baby puke somewhere if he likes that color so much.
