2wd spider gears turning?

Hi Everybody!!! 1st posting. When in 2wd, the ring & pinion does not spin. The left front axle spins the spider gears which in turn, spins the stub going out to the right axle backwards. Right? So how does this affect the wear on the spider gears and the spider gear axles? What gear oil would be best for countering wear on them? It seems like this would wear them way early.
