I’m sure that a KO2 will fit as I have my KM3 mounted there now, the spare is at full air pressure and fits tight. I did not need to modify anything for this to fit, no bending of the heat shield.
Thanks! That's great to know!

Please provide your tire size (e.g., 37x12.50/R17). That way I can find out it's measured diameter (or you can post it if you have it). This will help know what will fit.

I'll compare it to my tire: Toyo Open Country R/T 37x12.50/R17 to help see if it will fit

My 37" Milestar MT fits but it`s tight, not sure if i had a track bar if it would fit without hitting the track bar. My RK lift eliminated the rear track bar.

I run both 37x12.50x17 BFG ATKO2’s and 37x12.50x17 BFG KM3;s.

I see Nitto Trail Grappler listed but I had yet to see a picture of anything other than a Ridge Grappler. So today I decided to see if it would work. I had the 37x12.5x17 tire mounted on the factory spare wheel. It "fits"... for the most part. The tire had to be forced between the frame rails a bit and I set the tire pressure to 30psi. If I were to remove or trim the heat shield on the left side I think it would fit perfectly. Either way its up there with plenty of clearance on the track bar!

The right side. You can see the tread is a little deformed where I used the tire-iron to help the tire slide up between the frame rails:

On the driver-side you can see that the tire sits about a half an inch to the right due to the heat shield... I think I can trim the back half which should allow the tire to sit evenly between the frame rails and make getting it up there easier.

It only sits about an inch maybe inch and a half lower than the factory spare

I can confirm fit for BFG KO2 37x12.5x17 on AEV Savegre II mounted with mounting surface facing down. I don’t think the shop aired it down either.

I really appreciate people posting their info (as above) as I expect this will be helpful in determining if each Gladiator owner can run a full-size 37" diameter tire underneath up in the spare tire well.

I've looked up each of the above listed tires to get actual diameter and width and using those dimensions I don't see a correlation between the sizes and what people have posted (will/won't fit):

Fits
BFG A/T KO2 36.5" diameter x 12.5" wide
Maxxis Razr MT 36.8" diameter x 13.1" wide
Cooper Discoverer STT Pro 36.77 x 13.0" wide
BFG T/A KM2 MT 36.8" x 12.5" wide
Kanati Trail Hog MT 36.7" x ? (didn't find width online)

Fits (with persuasion - very tight)
Nitto Trail Grappler 36.85" x 13.43" wide

Doesn't Fit

General Grabber X3 36.8" x 12.5"
Goodyear Wrangler MT/R Kevlar 36.8" x 12.5" wide - Aired down to 0 psi with or without the heat shield, it firmly hits the hitch and trackbar

Unknown
Toyo Open Country R/T 36.8" x 12.5" wide

Anyone have a good idea as to why some tires fit and some don't when most of them appear to be the same size? I can't make sense of this list to determine what will/won't fit.

Are there other factors like which Jeep model (I assume they're all the same in regard to the spare tire area but other items like suspension could change), or spare tire wheel or ?

I have a Milestar Pategonia 37x12.5 under mine. Cheapest 37" I could find to throw on the spare wheel.

I would think we'd need to know the width of the rims. Stock runs 7.5 and balloons the tires, where as most aftermarket runs that people are getting are larger and therefore may change the circumference.

Same reason why some people say they get rubbing on full turns on the same JT model and tires but different wheels...stock vs aftermarket... Assuming same offset.

^This.

A rim that is too narrow bulges the tire in the middle of the tread so that even airing it down won’t help. We need to know the wheel width.

I have Nittos 37/13.50-20 on 10” rims and will try to fit the spare in the well this weekend. I will report back.

I can confirm 37x12.5R17 Goodyear wrangler MTR Kevlar DOES NOT fit. Aired down to 0 psi with or without the heat shield. Firmly hits the hitch and trackbar.
How are you liking these tires? I work for GY and they have a program to swap out OEM tires to GY at the time of vehicle purchase. Looking at the MTRs in 35 for my JTR manual.
