6MT 3.73 - 3rd gear 2500-2900 I have a RPM hiccup in power delivery. Ugh, it's at the dealer now and tech took it home for the night. He experienced the "hiccup" in power delivery but has said the clutch and fuel pressure are fine.

If you modulate 2500-2900 RPM in 3rd on 50mph back roads it's where the fueling seems bad. Tech originally said I was supposed to be shifting to 4th at that speed, but it is gutless @ 45mph in 4th.

FYI, this is my 8th manual transmission I have owned & driven lots since the 1980's.

Any suggestions? Thanks for your help.

I have the same truck, 8k miles. Planning on changing wheels soon, but no other suspension/gearing mods. Never had this issue. I thought mine was sluggish when I first got it, but I bought a throttle controller and that solved that issue for me. Hope they figure it out for you.

Curious what you find out... I can vouch there is a slight "change" that's noticeable in the 3Kish RPM range due to stock tuning, but nothing I'd considered a stumble in the 2500-2900 RPM range.

As far as throttle controllers, I use the Pedal Commander, great mod, used on a couple different trucks now! But others are really happy too with the iDrive controller too. Check the 3.6L part of forum, we have an entire thread discussing them.

Bottom line, they are awesome to fix the stock lazy throttle pedal!

Keep us posted what they tell you.

Here's the link for the one I have:

Yep, and I have the iDrive. I have not heard anything negative about either. In fact, anyone who puts one of these on have only said good things.

I had a 2018 JLR six speed and it would do the same thing. Drove me crazy and I got rid of it six months later. I really wanted to get the six speed in my Mojave, but I heard it was still an issue. Went with the auto instead. The stutter is a result of a bad oem tune.

that’s what I’m afraid of. Senior service guy took it home for the night (30 mile drive) acknowledged the issue but said everything (fueling/clutch etc) is reading to specification. Told me to come get it so I did. Said it felt like on/off throttle.

I have a hate/love/hate w/ this 6MT. It was freagin awesome on gravel/forest roads, but 50mph back roads (3rd gear) is frustrating w the hiccup fueling. maybe it is where the pedal is engaging because it is in the first 1/4 of operation when modulating.

Dealer is saying I should be shifting in to 4th but the motor is gutless in 4th @ 45mph. I guess I’ll throw in the towel & get 4.88 gear/pedal commander/Corsa/35” and just embrace it for its awesomness & (perceived) compromises.

Re-gearing and a pedal commander is probably your best bet. You need low gearing to make up for the lack of torque and a pedal commander to eliminate the delay in throttle response. My eight speed auto also suffers from delayed throttle response. Actually, all new vehicles with drive by wire suffer from this issue.

I’m orig thread poster.
Pedal Commander - one day review. I’m blown away how much more fun the 6MT 3.73 is after installing Pedal Commander. I didn’t feel any more hiccup, gutless engine, pedal lag and can easily bark 2nd in Sport mode. I’ve only had my Gladiator 2 months, 1st Jeep, and after 2 weeks I was ready to trade it for an Automatic & had been car shopping. Not anymore, PC has completely changed the way my Gladiator feels now. Honestly can’t believe how much better it is.
