8.4 CarPlay / UConnect conflict

I’m having this issue between CarPlay and UConnect. When I plug my iPhone into the usb dash connector the head unit automatically switches to the media (usb) channel. Switching back to my original FM choice takes me out of CarPlay and starts the FM radio; but upon switching back to CarPlay display the media channel switches back to CarPlay forcing me to reselect FM.

I’m tired of this song and dance. I can’t seem to find a setting on either device to resolve this. Am I taking crazy pills? Has anyone found a way to solve the constant switching?

I think there is a Uconnect setting to not automatically select the USB device when it is connected.
