Hey, Michigan here, old Wrangler JK here looking to convert to Gladiator.

Called up my local dealership, none on the lot, nothing good for dealer trade, so onto custom order. 100% want the Max Tow package, which gives an option of the 850RE trans or the 8HP75 trans for automatic.

I've been told the 8HP75 trans is the ZF trans same used in BMW, and good, so I wanted to get that. Dealer says 8HP75 is not available for order, but it is a selectable option on the gladiator build jeep.com website if you configure a new Gladiator + max tow package.

Anyone know if something's going on with the 8HP75? If it will come back? Or if the dealer is pulling my leg?

That transmission is used with the diesel option only.
That's what I first thought as well, but got confused by the website offering the ZF trans as an option...

Hmmmm...when I select the ZF trans on jeep.com build a Gladiator, it flips the engine to diesel. Of course it would be a BMW transmission on a diesel - Germans and Europe like diesel cars more than the USA, so that makes sense.

Did you get max tow + diesel BTW? Is that even an option?

Never trust the website as gospel when it comes to configuration. Plenty of times it has been wrong or let you do something that could not be done when built.

Max Tow is only a 3.6L gas option, with the ZF transmission rated for lower torque. The ZF's are used across a wide range of FCA and BMW vehicles in several different configurations and torque ratings.

The extra weight of the Diesel nerfs the payload and towing capacity (along with cooling limitations). If you want to tow the Diesel is still a great choice, but with lower capacity than the Max Tow.

Regardless of engine choice, you get a GREAT fast shifting smooth transmission that is wonderfully responsive. I prefer manual transmissions by default, but the JT transmission is NO compromise.
