I have never had a problem with the physical port in the center console. The biggest issue has been the quality of the cables, and the wearing of the port on the phone. I use three foot, high speed, high flexibility USB cables from Anker. Switching to those eliminated most of my problems. Upgrading the phone from a S8 to a S21 cleared up the rest of them. I used to stick the phone in the FOB slot with the port up and cable hanging to the side. Now, I just lay it on the passenger seat. Also, periodically rebooting the phone seems to help with the overall function of the Android system.
