Was that when they popped 2 tires on the same spot?? I remember that
I do not remember that but I did not watch every video they put out in that series on the Defender they bought.

I just remember the first one set some CEL and it was something super weird and IIRC, Land Rover flew a engineer out from the UK to look at it and they just made a call to swap them out with new one. The 2nd one they received they had their local dealer install some factory authorized accessory (think it was a bumper or brush guard) and the dealership drilled into a main wire harness. Replacement harness had to scheduled to be built back in the UK with no ETA so they put them into a third new one. Did not follow what happened to the third one but it seems they divested themselves of that one also.

I do remember the few driving impressions of when it was running fine was highly praised but the juice was not worth the squeeze.

I do know TFL was pretty bummed on the first one as they ordered and spec'd a bare basic one to have it for a blank canvas to accessorize and run a series of video on it. The replacements I know were more optioned ones as finding a basic one again was next to impossible without another factory order and long wait.

Just curious, if you are saying "adios" to the JT gang here, do you plan to close your Gladiator forum account? I don't think it is possible even if you wanted to (unless you get banned for life or something).

Like the old saying, the internet is forever.

aaaah a defender.... heuuu I mean a Range Rover sport on working clothes ;-)
not bad not bad .... totally not the defender spirit but it will de a huge gap in matter of comfort. no doubt about that.
for the rest.... as I like to say about Land Rover ( and trust me I would looooooove to have a Range Rover Vogue Autobiography Long Wheel base one day ) those cars are wonderful, pinnacle of comfort, class and elegance and a are basically able to climb on a tree .... BUT they have to be leased .... too expansive to take care of

Tata vs Stellantis….I’m enjoying the change ?

I’m one of the few who actually off road, the reality is only a small percentage of Jeep and JLR actually do this. considering my last few Jeeps the fact that the Defender is running I’m already impressed ?

Well, you may have gotten a bad one there are always bad ones in every brand variant, I got a good one. 62,500 +or- a few and going strong sees dirt more than pavement and has off roaded many times. IN mud and dirt and gravel daily. WV muddin' No rock climbing above 12" stuff but I can't say enough good about my experiences with my Gladiator.. If I was gonna find a fault with the Gladiator the seat is a little hard other than that. I am here to stay . I have had alot of em Chevy, Ram, Dodge ,Toyota, ..nothing comes close to the capability of this JT.
Good Luck to ya. Hope it all works out for you but if not then come on back .

Good choice. I was trying to talk my wife into the Defender, she ended up going with a 22 Velar last year. It’s not gonna be quite as capable, but it’s a hell of a lot more comfortable. I love my Gladiator but I can’t say I blame you.…. Best of luck..

OP, a lot of haters out there that think it’ll be a constant issue. I think it’s way overblown, particularly on s forum for Jeeps. Not exactly branded on reliability... I view RR ownership like parenting. “Bigger kids, bigger issues.” In this case it’s, “more expensive car, more expensive fixes.”

Speaking from about a year of Range Rover (wife’s) ownership….the issues seen (two) have been minor computer issues resolved with an update. Mechanically it’s been great for my wife this far and really comfortable to drive. Drove 3.5 hrs to a client meeting in it the other day and to be honest loved it. The cost of ownership is higher, but if you can afford to buy it, you should be able to afford the added cost of maintaining it!

Lastly, love the Gladiator and I’ll be be keeping mine for years to come!! At least until I start to miss vented seats again!!!

Love the analogy!

Gladiators and Defenders are expensive niche toys….I get amused at how many folks will go apeshit defending their choice. Reality is they are an iteration of an original, they are not the Wrangler either, so if you go balls deep in either you might eat crow.

Honestly, I feel like there should be more kinship between these two vehicles ? instead gladiator owners act like their 3 year old truck somehow compares to a Wrangler or that their mass produced toy is superior and will draw swords over dissent. And defender owners….well to me they seem to do the same in a more “fuck you” type way.

For that kind of money I would have looked at the grenadier, the real defender successor. I like the looks of the new "defender" but I don't think they should have called it that.
